Average Player Ratings V Tranmere Rovers

The Imps returned to Sincil Bank for the first time since a very lacklustre defeat to Bromley two weeks earlier, and produced an excellent performance to see off promotion rivals Tranmere for the second time in a month. To have kept three clean sheets in a row against such a strong offensive outfit is a feather in the collective cap of the defence and midfield, and it comes as no surprise that they are the players dominating the average player ratings once again.

Continuing an outstanding run of form, LUKE WATERFALL takes the vote with his first goal for City; about time, many of us would say, and hopefully the first of many. Fans are starting to realise that we have a genuine asset on our hands:

"Looks a real prospect. Calm, unfussy and confident" (NottyImp).

In joint second come Waterfall's partner in crime CALLUM HOWE and the resurgent JACK MULDOON, who is finally winning the fans over with his 100% commitment to the cause. More than that, he is clearly working on the weaker parts of his game and may well become the player he has promised but failed to be:

"He was everywhere! Capped a great week with an enthusiastic display" (Snats).

As for Howe, he has yet to top the average player vote despite some near misses in recent weeks. Will he finally break his duck at Torquay? And he has yet to score for City, raising deep concern amongst a fan:

"Taking three points from every game is irrelevant. Where are the 78/79 goals going to come from?" (SkellyCod).

The average team score of 7.12 was the best of the season. The challenge to the players now is to beat that. In every game.
