Are you voting where you are?

Yes, of course.

Unfortunately my Ward is the second most Tory one in the Tory dominated borough of Bromley. Plan to get back from mini holiday by early evening in time to vote. Might be the first Labour vote they get!!

So strongly Tory there isn't even a point in voting tactically.

We should vote, whichever party we prefer. People died for us to have this right. For all its weaknesses we should at least get off our arses every few years. Even a spoilt paper is doing something rather than opting out entirely and moaning.

Because of my job I'm heavily involved in elections when they occur, thankfully ours were last year so I get a break from the insanity until 2025.

Working behind the scenes is quite fun despite 36 hours with no sleep and everyone being off their nut on caffeine to get through the count. The employment hierarchy dissolves as everyone pitches in in a frenzied madness to get the results out on time.

Although they are local elections for many, they are also the first chance to vote on Johnson's magnificent, world beating tenure to date.

I’m off in a bit. It’s likely to be a historic day here with the DUP in trouble, the shinners are on for becoming the largest single party and we will have a nationalist majority for the first time. Won’t change the workings much but is a symbolic milestone.

People moan over here about government and the failures of stormont then vote exactly the same people back in again and wonder why nothing changes.

There are some very capable people in the more moderate parties but the tribalism and division whipped up by the DUP and the shinners means the moderates don’t get a look in. I live in hope though!

I'll be voting in a Bromley Ward too......
....for anyone NOT a Socialist.

Some local Wards have Independents running, and as far as I can tell they are supported by Residents Groups - non-political but definitely not socialist.

In the interest of fairness....
At a local Hustings, all candidates were asked their views about women only safe spaces.
All gave a simple "yes", with no mealy-mouthed fence-sitting - some adding:
"and I have no problem defining a woman".
The Labour candidate added something about "not denying biology".
No nasty, aggressive, woke nonsense. So fair play to him.

Voted in Southwark around 7am. Think I might have been the first as they had trouble tearing off the voting page. No independents, just the standard 3 plus the Greens.

Absolutely no point. Tories are OK in local government with provision of services and I am not sure that any of the other parties would do better. They always get a huge majority everywhere in the Kent Weald whether I live, anyway.

Nationally, we are in the same position as France. Realistic choice is either capitalist right wing or capitalist slightly right of centre " 'cause it might get me elected".

So "can't be arsed" then. Just what the rulers want you to do.
