An Update From Jez George (Video)

"And just before we finish Jez, how is Freddie's fitness after having to come off last week ? "
( unless I've missed it somewhere)
Would have just been nice to find out if it's just a niggle or not.

Thought he spoke very well though. Will be good to have some forward options at last !!

Mk Dons last season are the classic example of not getting it right with loans. The season before last, MK Dons were a play-off semi final losing to Wednesday but with a team built around high quality loanees. Last season, with the loanees gone. they were relegated. Whatever model is chosen, there is inherent risk and benefit in both.
The high quality loanees were gone, but they replaced them with 5 more loans the next season. Presume they thought those new 5 were going to be equally high quality.
that feels more like the inherent risk with recruiting players (loan or otherwise) than a choice between a model including loans or not including loans.
(they signed 8 contracted players 21/22, 10 in 22/23.)

Bramall was sold to Rotherham when they met his release clause - at the time mooted as £200,000.

Scully was under contract, so would have gone for a decent fee.

Hard to believe we would have got much for Archibald or Robson. Some training balls and a bag of bubblies, perhaps.

Tayo Edun, or was that the year before?

"The American driven theoretical approach hasn't quite worked" What do you mean by that?

Scot has dealt with this in his excellent replies but my original post stated some of the reasons it has not quite worked this season. …”Too many variables to try and control, and nowhere near flexible enough when major injuries occur.”

Everyone accepts the theory. Of course it is financially way better for a lower league club to own an Ivan Toney rather than have him on loan. That is not rocket science; but if he had had a long term injury then perhaps Peterboro’s model might not have worked. Or at least not worked quite so well.

At our level there probably needs to be a balance, and a few good quality loan players can greatly benefit a team like Lincoln.
