Vital Champions League
using the two wingers formation, in the swindon; notts; exeter games we did cause all sorts of problems. not so much in the northampton; grimsby; bury games. first six games; 5 wins. 14 goals. maybe we didn't really need a plan b.
but opposition teams also watch tapes and learn. in the last six games we have 4 wins. but have only scored 7 goals. and have come up against more of the stubborn approach mentioned. against macc, mkdons, cheltenham, tranmere, crewe we have still had a lot of the ball, and played some excellent football, but haven't created so much. two late winners. then two late goals at cheltenham. then a zero at tranmere. and struggling for an hour against crewe. late winners can't be relied upon. there will be plenty of teams setting up this way if it continues to frustrate us.
which is why i believe we are looking to introduce something different - and pleased that the management team are prepared to do this. they ignore the fact that we are top, they don't just sit on their laurels until we get too bogged down.
were crawley also sitting back. i imagine the sending off changed the dynamic of that game?
