These disorders GT have always been around whether now they are over diagnosed or not. The difference today is we have the awareness. People live longer and people back then with peculiar behavior etc. were just locked up out of sight as they didn't understand what was wrong with them.

There are no new illnesses under the sun. They are illnesses that have over time been given a label and treatment.

I remember a documentary years ago about diabetes and they used to lock people up who had it. The moving on of times and discovery. That is the only difference
