League One Transfers: January 2021

Oxford United: In: 1 Out: 0
In:
Defender: Luke McNally, 21 (St Patrick's Athletic – Republic of Ireland)

Bogle got 2 in 17 appearances 12 (5) for Charlton so he hasn’t really hit the ground running there. Doesn’t seem to be the same player he was for the cods.

Wasn't most of his good work at Blunder in the Conference? A term my gran was very fond of springs to mind. Flatters to deceive. I certainly would not have been thrilled had we signed him.

Doncaster have been doing really well and it might be better for us if they switched their team round tomorrow to mess about with that run. Doubt it'll happen. Newbies on the bench

Charlton fans are very pleased Bogle has gone (and Smyth too):

He has scored 16 goals in 4 years since leaving Grimsby, and this is his eighth club since then. His four goals in three years for Cardiff theoretically cost them £175,000 each. He has scored 7 goals in 38 appearances for three clubs in League One. As Hully says, he almost retired before joining Charlton; once you lose motivation like that, it must be awfully hard to get it back again.

Having said all that, he'll probably tear League One up (at his fourth attempt).

I predict Donny are more likely to tear up his contract than him tearing up the league. 18 month contract he must have a bloody good agent.

And Oxford have given a three-and-a-half-year contract to Luke McNally. An incredible commitment in these times, especially to a player trying to step up from the League of Ireland. Elbouzedi was probably the best young player in Ireland, and he has struggled to establish himself in L1.

Perhaps had to offer such a long contract to beat interest from other clubs known to like buying young Irish players.

Rumour suggests that Burton are paying a fee to Bristol City for winger Jonny Smith after he was recalled from his loan at Swindon today.

They paid a fee for Tom Hamer earlier today too. Hasselbaink as manager plus buying players - have Burton found some money down the back of the sofa?

Jimmy might have brought some investment with him?

Sunderland: In: 3 Out: 1

Winger: Jordan Jones, 26 (on loan from Glasgow Rangers to the end of the season)
