Met both on many occassions.

They are both personable and likeable people; the problem is you can't believe a word they tell you.

Tavares is consistent. Consistently poor.

Don't let the occasional powerful run or half decent ball fool you.

Tavares is fine as a wing back or possibly even played further forward. At full back though he is a heart attack waiting to happen. He shouldn’t be allowed anywhere near a back four…

Back to the match, one thing that really impressed me was the way the players celebrated after the penalty shoot out. It was like they'd survived for another season. Turner was congratulated. Hugs all round. There were also congratulations for Gardiner. If nothing else, this side has very good team spirit and togetherness.

1991 was in the days when people would turn up outside matches selling hockey merchandise.
