Match Thread: Lincoln City v Oxford United

What a relief. We never make life easy for ourselves as it was almost a replay of the MK Dons game. We have a lot to thank Rushworth for, he was immense.

Not too bothered about stats. For me it's about finding ways to win. We often won Ugly with the brothers in charge. Lets find the same formula and just appreciate how good our keeper and defence are.

FT. PHEW - all credit to Oxford they just kept trying to play football and were by and large the better team. We were just not in control of the game and couldn’t put enough pressure on Oxford. Once again we backed off second half and gave them the impetus. Too many times we just cleared the ball instead of trying to get the ball down and look to pass it to a team-mate. when we did we tried to play the ball through their player instead of around them. We almost played like the relegation candidates. BUT - after all that Danny Mandriou’s penalty was enough, allied to Carl Rushworth’s ‘Gordon Banks’ style save 👏👏. Three very welcome and very valuable points. Nearly there 🤔

11th on the table and we are fortunate to be there as we again struggled against a team previously out of form. Oxford looked a lot better than their league position suggests. The 3 points are very welcome though.

Phew, couldn't follow that. Decided to clean my bike and ignore the football for the last bit, then check at FT. Pleased we managed to hang on this time around, but we really should be making easier work of these games against the strugglers.

Three vital points in the bag is about as good as it gets. As for the display, awful. No creativity, inability to keep possession, great ability in giving the ball straight back to Oxford and seemingly unable to move into space and make themselves available. The defence as usual deserve plaudits for keeping Oxford at bay and Rushworth in particular for yet more outstanding stops. However got to be positive, unbeaten run and home record continues and another clean sheet But must do better against the Posh in a couple of weeks. UTI 👊💥👏
