Transfer Window - Summer 2022

He is a very good player and has come on well, but the chances of getting him are nil.

He's on approx 5 mill a year + bonuses, signed a 6-year deal this year and has a buy out clause of £120 mill (yes even we're doing it in the PL now)..

I did say, home grown players we can get!

They will never get that in a million years.

The Spammers are cheap, throw 60m at him and the pornstars would go all weak at the knees.

Ha ha ha, afraid not anymore, as I predicted a long time back once they had been given a free stadium, and then given taxpayers money of £350 mill to turn it into a football stadium, they now have one of the cheapest most modern stadiums in the land in terms of running costs and overheads - and their finances have continued to strengthen, with their recent new shareholder (a multi billionaire who is willing to invest heavily) - give it another few years and they'll regularly be in the top 6 turnovers in the PL..

They're not our nursery anymore and getting really good players off of them who they don't want to sell, is now impossible.

I've yet to hear anyone come up with a better home-grown AM'er we an get.

We need home-grown players, who do more than tick boxes.
If we are prepared to chuck £60m at Maddison I would try and tempt Soton and JW-P with that kind of sum. Surely if he has any ambition he would be tempted by CL football. He can play deeper so could play in the central two against sides that set up not to concede. The young lad Dewsbury-Hall looks a decent player, he has kept Maddison out at times. As previously mentioned, Conor Gallagher would be my choice, if only he were a viable option!

We'll have to agree to disagree, he's not in my eyes good enough for a top 4 club. I like Dewsbury Hall, not so sure he kept Madison out, it was more a case of whilst he was returning from injury..

Conor Gallagher needs to show he can keep improving and once he goes back to the chav's, I think it's a 50/50 call as regular game time may well allude him there.

I don't see a viable homegrown option. In fact, I'm even finding it frustrating that guys like Ward-Prowse and Maddison are being put in this bracket.

I caught a little snippet on from McCoist on Talksport this morning. He was talking about the difference between Foden having no fear of losing the ball, whilst Grealish is being too safe.

We could learn from that. Sometimes, I love the things that Gil tries. He gets some stick for losing possession, but is at least trying to unlock a parked bus. Like Kulu and Richarlison, he's always on the move.

I'd also make the Aarons / Emerson swap out in a heartbeat. That would also get an incremental homegrown in at no cost. If not, we need to make sure we get Livramento after the World Cup when he is fit again.

I'd happily sell Doherty and Emerson and bring in Aaron's.

Homegrown box ticked, upgraded ticked, overflow of RWBS issue ticked.

No brainer.

If Aarons is all that why has nobody yet made a move for him? I agree with Livramento, it's a real shame he picked up such a bad injury when he did. I would also like to see more of Gil, I think he has the skills to become our own David Silva if he continues to improve.

I haven't heard a snippet of transfer news regarding Aarons. There must be a reason why none of the PL clubs are in for him - again.

I was thinking also how little interest there had been in Neves so far given that his agent had been spouting off at the start of the window about his availability this summer. But the rumours of United's interest have surfaced again this morning as they don't seem to be making any progress in their pursuit of de Jong.

Looks like we are back to our default position in the transfer market - no cover in midfield and the much needed left centre back and wing backs addressed on the cheap (although I do rate Perisic) and failing to offload unwanted players. Can Conte really be that happy at the moment - I would suggest not.
The early summer hope of a title challenge has now become a scramble for top four with Chelsea, Arsenal and Man United . Not what Conte envisaged.

PompeyYid - all good here thank you. I hope you and your wife are doing well. I just wanted to offer a different perspective on things. I actually brought a season ticket for this year - I didn't renew in the previous two seasons and I am so excited about going down on Saturday - 12 o clock train from Doncaster. However, my excitement has somewhat been tempered by our recent non-transfer activity and injuries we have already picked up. Let's see what happens in the last month of the window.
Lovely to talk to you again Pompey.

Patience DH, I'm pretty sure we are still in for a surprise or two!

I'm off on Saturday for a few weeks and will miss most of August, which is a shame as I, for one, am really looking forward to how we develop in the early weeks of this season.

But, I, for one, know no Spurs fans who seriously thinks (or thought) we'd be launching a title challenge this season! You are the first!

The Top 4 is always going to be an arms race and will be won each cycle by who has the deepest pockets; to challenge, we'd probably need to spend another £200 mill and bring in 2-3 exceptional players, we're not in that bracket yet, but we're heading that way,.

All the evidence suggests Conte is very happy with the efforts to date, or we absolutely wouldn't have him saying in public that he's happy to stay long term. But he has a history of being a bit 'Oliver' i.e. can I have some more please....

That said, he clearly wears his heart on his sleeve and is highly emotional and even strikes me as slightly bipolar, his general utterances both now and in his career generally support this conclusion.

Etete seems to be on his way to Cardiff for a permanent deal.

Good deal all round, £500k upfront with add-ons as he progresses (assuming he does) and we have a buy back clause for the duration of his contract there.

He gets regular first team football (he hopes) and we can see him progress and grow - whether he makes the PL grade is still very much open for debate.

I wish him well.
