Match Thread: Gillingham v Lincoln City

gillingham are a very difficult team to play against. very impressed with our approach as it was a different kind of win. battled hard in the second half... defensively solid. and when we managed to hold the ball, had the edge on the counter.
another clean sheet, and as usual that first goal was crucial.

Enjoyed it, the defence were fantastic with Palmer colossal. Fantastic display of goalkeeping, commanded his box, knew when to come, solid punching the ball away from and absolute bombardment of crosses. Decent saves all round. A confident and assured display.

Note to self: cut and paste in MoM thread !

Was far from our best footballing performance with the ball, but we defended well against a physical Gillingham side, who knew they would be outclassed, had a plan, and stuck to it. We coped with it admirably. A promotion side performance. Played so much better against Donny and lost, but won this one. It’s a strange game! And should have been four late on but for an awful linesman decision.

Maybe flattered by scoreline (but should have been 4!) but when we went through the gears Gills couldn't live with it. Defensively stood up brilliantly to a physical challenge last season's defence would have folded under.

Spine of the side- Palmer, Jackson, Walsh, Bridcutt, Hopper- really stood out, the others all contributed hugely, Grant was quality, Johnson and Rogers are growing by each match.

We are top of the league!

Loved that, now watching test match highlights on free to air channel 4. Bottle of wine. All is well. Have a great weekend Imps. Tonight we’re top of the league. I know the decline in Covid isn’t universal. My mum has survived at 84. We will beat this and then have a memory loss blow out.

Wonder if ol' Steven Evans will be as flattering to us in his post match press conference....

Defended fantastically well, dealt with the long balls fairly comfortable. Against despite playing 72 hours previously we were fitter and stronger than out opponents. When we went up the gears we were far too good for Gills who couldn't cope.

Rest up and watch the scores tomorrow - job done.
