So, whadda we gonna moan abart?

I saw Wes Streeting getting interviewed on sky news earlier. Seemed disappointed about the free school meals, or more rather disappointed it took a footballer to campaign on the issue and get the government to assess it. When the presenters pointed out it took a footballer to campaign on the issue because he and labour were so ineffective at doing do the poor chap looked furious!

And SKS is still down on his knee scrabbling around for support and looking for donkey carrots at the same time 🤣
It's literally a bandwagoning frenzy for our labour chums 🙈

Indeed. There is no virtue they won’t signal or passing bandwagon they won’t jump aboard.

On top of the shaming of Jess Phillip's by her own supporters for not being "left wing and BLM supporting enough" on Sunday you literally couldn't make it up !

It does seem like we will be arriving at an "airstrip one" national situation in the not too distant if this malarkey of left wing and wokeish pandering by institutions and broadcasters carries on 🤦‍♂️
Bloody hell ....... your enthusiasm for this wonderful new government has soon waned! (Yes, I know, ......... you don't particularly support Johnson either ................. but that's who you allowed in).

I'm never really sure what "woke" means ................ but I'm fairly sure that though it's meant as an insult, the underlying principle of it's meaning (whatever that may be) would probably be seen as a compliment by those being accused.

Yeah I made a brief twitter return and saw the bullying. It was out of order and I felt sorry for her. Wouldn’t mind but she hadn’t actually done anything but clearly hadn’t done enough for the extremists.

Now ........ what was Starmer's question to Johnson last week? ................. summat about having a rethink on school meals?

Don't get me wrong ............. I'm not giving Starmer credit for the U-turn, that's down to Rashford, and Johnson's pandering to populism ............... but it's getting ever more embarrassing that Johnson and his wet-wipe government keep on having to back track. Quite astonishing really.

I get MiW that you think this makes Streeting and Labour look bad .................. but what does it say about Johnson and the government ?

Bloody hell Moonay "I'm never really sure what 'woke' means.....you then proceed to talk in riddles - if u don't know what it means then when guess at an answer nvconfuse the f@ck out of people.
Apparently 'woke' ="alert to injustices in society' - your welcome 😉

Now you can see why the government don't always change their minds / decisions.....cue the comments 'pandering to populism'...'weak willed'...'haven't got a clue'....'indecisive.
As I've said before they're dammed if they do not dammed if they dont.

Or in reality 'woke' = "fixated on perceived injustices in society, mainly on behalf of other people, as introduced via hashtag by PC, virtue signalling left wing types"
You are clearly woke Moonay - so rest easy 😉

I think your response hit the nail on the head.

I thought it meant summat like that, but wasn't really sure .................... after all, being accused of being "alert to injustices in society" is hardly a kick in the balls, is it?

Maybe they should just think about the initial decision more Jock. After all, how many times have they done this recently? It's getting beyond a joke. You can't defend them on a single one either.

If they made decent decisions in the first place, they wouldn't need to change the buggers !

Ah............ moving the goalposts I see. A typical Johnson manoeuvre!
;)

So in the space of an hour or so, IYO, It's alright for the police to move the goalposts but not the PM 🤔
Nah .......... you've got it wrong mate ..................... the police have a different set of goalposts for each new game/situation. They don't move them. They just use the most suitable.
;)

I get MiW that you think this makes Streeting and Labour look bad .................. but what does it say about Johnson and the government ?

It means they are willing to listen, reassess and amend policy decisions if it is appropriate to do so. Seems like the right approach to me and is a sign of strength not weakness.

The fact it took a 22 year old footballer to make the persuasive arguments however doesn’t say a lot for the opposition.

I didn’t mention that the poor chap was lost for words when the presenter highlighted the unprecedented economic intervention the government had made, unparalleled globally, as evidence they have taken the impact of this crisis seriously for all families. Streeting was utterly fuming, obviously thought he was invited on to spout some anti government rhetoric.

If I pricked about like that at work I would be disciplined and rightly so.
What next - the paras giving out sweets ?
It is not appropriate IMO to bend the knee, join in a conga or for that matter sing "England" football songs ( noticed you swerved that one 😉) whilst on duty serving the country on behalf of all.
The approach should be consistent and equal for all (no one knows where they stand at any given time else) and that is essentially what the BLM wagon is all about isn't it ?
Can't have it both ways !
You and Jock can comment about the following from experience.
I understand from the press that our troops are good at 'hearts and minds' type stuff - it was a common 'meme' (to coin a phrase) around the time of Afghanistan.
Are these pictures an example of h&m activity by police?
Though, I do think much of it is unbecoming.

You can't honestly believe that MiW. It's embarrassing. Johnson had his ministers defending the decision even this morning. I wouldn't mind if this was the only example, but it isn't. It's an utterly pathetic way to govern ...... and you know it.

It says even less for the PM ................... I wonder what Hancock thinks, given he was so vocal about footballers at the start of this shambolic handling of the virus.

That is because Streeting is more right wing than Johnson's socialist policies.😁

I bet Shapp's and Coffrey are so pleased that Cummings has hung them out to dry
