Transfer rumors

People come up to me and they go “ooo Will why are you not out there doing all the Pseud c***n* posts while Adebola Cornflakes is out there making all the Apollyon posts?”, and I say don’t slag em off.

I say, Adebola cornflakes couldn’t write a fantastic post about Sabri Lamouchi. I couldn’t do what he.... actually I could do what he does.... and he think he knew that even back then.... probably what spurred him on.

My proudest moment on Vital wasn’t when I increased site hits by 17 per cent, or cut expenditure without losing a forum user.

No. It was a young Greek guy, first forum he'd signed up to, hardly spoke a word of English, but he came to me and he went 'AdebolaCornflakes, will you be the Godfather to my child?’. Didn’t happen in the end. We had to ban him, he was rubbish.

If a good man *adebola cornflakes*, comes to me, and says thank you Will, for the opportunity and continued support in the forum-related arena, but I've done that, I wanna better myself, I wanna move on to LTLF, then I can make that dream come true, to, AKA, for you.

If Carvalho is going to be out for a while, would it be worth trying to get Dowell back on loan? Would wind up the sheep to if we beat them to him!
No offence Marlow but in my view we are a very nostalgic fan base...he made a good start for us then faded. Why apart from pissing off some of the rams...would we go back for him?

I didn't say
i dont agree, lolley maybe. certainly nobody would pay 15m for carz, not sure theyde pay 6 for grabban either.. tho saying that the player vaues get crazier by the week
I didn't say most clubs would pay 15m or 6m.
I said most clubs would be happy to have them 3 in their squad.

He was very young when we had him, he is now older, stronger and more experienced. He is a better player now than he was 2 years ago!

I see the club are continuing with their recruitment 'policy' of either signing tippy tappy, skilful foreigners, who can't hack it at their clubs, and who lack physicality OR players who have the right attributes but have been released by their clubs as they have gone over the hill....

Clearly this is my fault, no matter how I've simplified this it goes completely over your head. All I can do is apologise for not speaking halfwit fluently.

Again you first made this personal, got one snarky comment back from me which provoked a laundry list of insults followed by a threat of stamping your little feet and taking your toys home. But by all means keep playing the martyr.

Also I didn't lose the argument (you'll notice those who desperately need to proclaim they've won very rarely actually have), you extolled the virtues of Robinson over that of Osborn on the grounds he was defensively more solid and you didn't care about full backs going forward. All of a sudden your position had changed, which suggests to me I won the argument as you've now fallen in line like a good chap.

Perhaps this is hope for you after all.

Quite the contrary, I can certainly commend your proficiency in speaking pompous, condescending, halfwit fluently 'Dude'.

Ask other posters sweetheart, run to mummy/teacher - whoever - you always try to move the goal posts (most likely to fan the flames of your overinflated ego) when the original statement was very simple - Byram (when fully fit) is a better footballer than Darikwa - simples. They have different attributes, but if fully fit Byram would get the starting position.

Sometimes, it takes courage to admit you're wrong - I'm happy to do so, when I'm wrong. I've explained countless times and even used your favoured stats to prove I'm right (notably, but not unexpectedly, ignored)!

For the record, my position has never changed on full backs (it was the position that paid me the most whilst playing - after 30, I had to change position), they have to be able to defend and provide an attacking impetus/threat. Overlapping runs and crossing are essential aspects that I coach into the full backs that I deal with - this is probably Darikwa's biggest weakness, if he works on that - he could be a real asset, because he has the defensive side as a real strength..

Osborn is good at the latter (attacking), but far too weak at the former (defending). Osborn's versatility is an asset, but that is also a weakness, as he does not specialise in a position - but, he is a player who adds to the team/squad - certainly, his link up ;play with Carvalho.

Byram is good enough at defending (certainly streets ahead of Osborn) but excels in distribution, passing, attacking & crossing when compared to TD.

This is my last entry (on this matter) - because, you fail to comprehend and will yet again, attempt to twist and manipulate in the futile hope of trying to justify a losing position (on a fit Byram v Darikwa) and then create an argument, I'd prefer to avoid getting into.

I'll leave you with a quote:

"Words are like weapons, they wound sometimes"

I like Darikwa. But he offers little going forward. He advances forward, offers up to receive a pass in an attacking area, especially when a cross is needed, but instead of crossing, passes sideways which is very frustrating.

Or more often backwards - all impetus lost, yet his pace and power should see him encouraged to hit the byline and cross or actually be direct and try to get a shot in.

He is an accident waiting to happen.

Defensively is positional sense is woeful, and he loses his man too easily which places an added burden on the other players.

For all of his athletisiscm and enthusiasm he brings little quality going forward; he displays a lack of awareness when trying to create space for other players and picks the wrong option with his passing on far too many occassions.

The last two managers could see he was a weak link and I would be surprised if the new one is any different.

Bingo!

2 years - not the 3-4 deals we used to deal out previously. No fee, solid pro, highly experienced in Championship, adds depth, width and attacking options to the squad BUT notably, I think he could really help Appiah!

Again, agreed. This is, on paper, a very shrewd transfer window. Of course, it may be different on the pitch, especially early on as most of our signings need to adapt to a relentless and unforgiving league.
Genuinely looking forward to the season OKD.

I've not seen enough of Silva or Semedo to pass judgement - the former is apparently renowned for getting stuck in - no idea about the latter.

One complaint I had last season, was that the ball was like a hot potato to our midfield (excluding Carvalho) - very little composure and we seemed to lose it way to often.

Ribeiro - adds competition for Robinson, but other than him being a left back, pacy and likes to get forward - not a lot to go on.

Ameobi isn't over the hill - offers something very different & only a 1 year deal!

Adomah - CP mentioned that his Villa supporting mates said his legs had gone (or something like that) - that remains to be seen, they could be right.

Me too - always overly optimistic in pre-season (often before reality kicks in).
