Squad numbers will be released soon. Which players will fail to get a number on their back.To be honest I don't remember the precise regulations regarding squad sizes. Is it 25???
 
yes but I think players under a certain age from youth team can be added and not included within the 25.

In that case I reckon Andy Surman is the only one on tour not to make it at present. Fox sneaks in as Redmond is under 21. The youth team can be afeed as deemed fit. Josh Murphy appearing in last years list.

But I can still see another three additions. One each of F MF CD.
Which would remove Ayala and two midfielders. I don't think we can go with less than 4 forwards. Fox and Butterflield?
 
goes to show the increase in quality at the club , because 5 years ago we could have left almost the lot out of the 25 !

Was Hoolihan here then? He must surely be one of our longest serving players by now.
 
Clubs register a squad of up to 25 players, which must include at least eight 'home-grown' players, at the end of each transfer window.

- Home-grown players do not have to be English; home-grown players are defined as those who "irrespective of nationality or age, have been affiliated to the FA or Welsh FA for a period of three seasons or 36 months prior to 21st birthday"

- Clubs can supplement squad with unlimited number of players under the age of 21.

- Changes can be made only during transfer windows, although in exceptional circumstances (eg goalkeeping injury crisis) moves could be allowed.

- Players loaned to Football League clubs cannot be replaced, but can regain their spot on return to parent club.

- Rules apply only to Premier League matches, not European, FA Cup or League Cup action.

- First deadline is 1700 BST on 1 September (24 hours after end of August transfer window).

We pass the 'Home Grown' rule

So as you can see we hardly have any under 21s in there and have 26 players over 21. I think Barnett will leave/left out along with Ayala if Hughton can get a new defender in. I'd say maybe Surman too. Butterfield could be left out of the squad until January and maybe re-registered but I'd like to see him given ago (Butters can play up front).

If we still want another Forward and a defender they will either have to be 21 and under or we will have to let 2/3 players go.

Also we will have player who are in the Under 21 development squad that can no longer play for the under 18s like Remi Matthews - 19, Ramil Sheriff - 20, Ewan McNeil - 20, Adel Gafaiti - 19, Michael Clunan - 19, Jamar Loza - 20. I think it is either time to bring them into 1st team setup, loan them, sell them or just let these guy go - it is unfair on them if they just play development games.
