Transfer Activity

Haha Vambogills :D

What about the lad Julio Geordio, we had better be in advanced negotiations with him already!
Can't afford to miss out on this one! Pull your finger out Pennock!

Speaking of transfer activity, as much as we all dislike fatty Evans, he doesn't f*@k about does he?!
What is it 11 in now already at Mansfield?!
Sounds like their chairman might have to get a replacement cheque book at that rate.

I personally don't care when we sign players. As long as we end up with a half decent balanced squad of fit players by the start of the season (preferably with at least two options in every position), then i'll be happy. Pace and power, with a mix of raw talent please Ade & Peter! More akin to the Pulis era..
I might be able to enjoy more home games then, instead of watching us get bullied of the park by the more often than not, physically stronger away team, and having to endure the constant moans and groans from half the Rainham end when one of our players gets knocked off/fails to win the ball!
I don't know about everyone else, but I want to see us physically dominating our tight pitch at home, and breaking at pace on teams away from home... instead of watching a bunch of fragile injury prone disconnected players, running around half heartedly plugging gaps without the ball, and then mundanely building up play on 'the break' (i.e. JET slowing it down/passing back when a break was on), as we were last season.

I've looked over the transfers for League One teams. I'd hardly say there's been a great deal of activity.

Notable signing of Beckford by Bury. Could be a formidable partnership with Vaughan.
I see McCormack has gone to League Two Luton - glad he's not coming here.
Kenny Jackett linked with Portsmouth.

Kenny Jackett was confirmed as Portsmouth manager yesterday!

As long as the bulk of the squad are in place for the trip to Ireland and France. Seems like we had a fractured dressing room last season, top priority is to fix that and have everyone pulling together early on.

The Irish trip seems a bit of a odd addition given it would be cheaper to spend a little more time in France .I wonder if there are any known reasons for two tours ? Team bonding would perhaps work better with one longer tour ? Maybe we will find out when they go . Irish trialist perhaps ? Or maybe some of our youngsters blooded in Irish football ? Or maybe the whole thing was a gift from a rich Irish gills fan ?

Chris - I thought that I read somewhere that they were going to see a specialist fitness trainer a "boot camp" type thing. I can't remember where I saw it so no link I am afraid.

I would prefer a nice settled squad rather than players leaving for the africas cup and coming back jet lag worn out and injured
That's one of the main issues with our back four last season ehmar was the only constant

Jackett is a great appointment by Portsmouth, knows the Division well.Would expect them to be top 6 this season.

That's if he doesn't walk out after 5 games.

Considering Africa is basically due South and at most a single hour ahead of the UK, I doubt jet lag will be a major issue. Plus they are no less likely to get injured on international duty than here....

The key thing is for the manager to have cover for when the player disappears.

I make it 27 signings by League One clubs (including us) from May onwards.
Roughly one each, so we're average! If we sign a second player in the next two days we'll all need to go and sit in a darkened room.

I knew a bloke who posted on the fansonline site occasionally who knew Taylor & Hess very well, and generally if he told me something, it wasn't far off the mark.

I haven't seen him for some time now, and he doesn't post on here, so I'm working on the principal of no news is good news.

My best guess is that Parker will stay, Cody will go (to a lower league or possibly Southend), List will sign and the rest will be defenders + one striker.

If there is any truth in the rumour of Wright to Florist, then maybe another midfielder as well, but Ade may well give our young players a decent go.

A Rotherham fan told me he was not surprised he left after 5 games because he had false promises by the board.Think he will be at Portsmouth a good amount of time.
