I have faith that our current board is more business savvy than those previously mentioned despite their good intentions. Listening to Radio Lincs in the car driving home the comments from board members interviewed showed a clear understanding of the extra demands of League 1 and preparations already being undertaken

81/82 whilst technically the highest in the League I've ever seen us, at Boardroom level it had to be the lowest of the low.

The strong rumour at the time was GT wanted to sign Gerry Armstrong from Spurs which would have been the Imps record signing by some margin. But the board wouldn't support him and shortly afterwards Elton John comes waltzing in, the rest is history.
