As we approach the final days' play in the Bears current match, I'd just like to summarise.

Nottinghamshire 273 & 260

Bears 201-9 Sibley absent, injured and 85-3 and with Sibley not appearing at the top of the batting, I assume he is still injured so effectively 85-4.

Knowing how 'fragile' (putting it mildly) our batting is, I can confidently say this is another one we won't win.

the batting line up was always looking suspect coming into the season, and so it is proving thus far.

I'm a bit baffled by the Championship format this season as well, but that's another story!

Today sees the Bears start their County Championship match against Essex at Edgbaston.

Unfortunately Dom Sibley is out for two matches with a broken finger but after the Nottinghamshire match, we live in hope.

The Bears are 7-0 at the close of play on day one after bowling out Essex for 295.

Slow day on day 2. The Bears crawled to 243-8 at the end of play, still 42 behind.

Day 3.

Bears finally all out for 284 giving Essex a lead of 11.

In their second innings, Essex find themselves 25-4 at lunch.

Essex got to 213-9 at the end a lead of 224.

Set up for a decent final day there.

In other news the mighty Moseley beat Shrewsbury by 87 runs to record our first win of the season.

That was Essex's first defeat since the opening match back in 2019, a run of 22 matches.
