Swansea v Sunderland Sat 4 November 15:00

Two matches coming up at the beginning of November before yet another International break 12-24 Nov, Sunderland at home and Ipswich away.

It’s Sunderland first then at the Swansea.com Stadium.

Four points ahead of us in 7th place they have a similar away record to us W3 D3 L3.

Sunderland have lost their last two away matches, Swansea have lost their last two home matches.

Sunderland are the best supported Championship team at home and away with an average home attendance of 41,387 this season and an average away attendance of 3,812. They wont have that many away supporters though due to the size of our ground but expect a sell out of 2,000 in the away end.

Head Coach Tony Mowbray is in his second season at Sunderland after the shock departure of Alex Neil to Stoke, he had just got them promoted from League One. Mowbray guided Sunderland to the play-offs in his first season, losing out to Luton in the semi-final.

Last season we beat the Black Cats 2-1 at home with goals from Cooper and Darling and a surprise 1-3 away win after Sunderland’s O’Nien was sent off on 18 minutes. Piroe, Cullen and Cooper the goal scorers to complete the double.

Too much to expect another double?

FT: Swansea 0 - Sunderland 0

The match was ruined by inept and inconsistent refereeing by Robert Madeley, who has form for one sided refereeing against us in the past. He sent off Patino for two harsh yellow cards on 30 minutes as Ekwah rolled around on the floor as if he was shot and then jumped up and ran around like a spring chicken.

We were outplayed up until then with 11 men so the prospect of another hour plus was daunting.

Amazingly we put on a great, resilient defensive display right through to the 98th minute without conceding, and even managed to miss a penalty. Great credit must go to the players, they gave their all and our fans really got behind the players and saw them through. It felt like a win at the end.
