Swansea v Stoke Tue 21 Feb 19:45
In quick succession we have another home match and it’s another mid-week game, this time on Tuesday night v Stoke.
Stoke lost 1-0 on Saturday at Blackpool with almost 70% possession and 6 shots on target compared to Blackpool’s 1 shot on target for the goal, sound familiar?
Manager Alex Neil said after the match “Ultimately it's about scoring goals and we didn't score a goal. Their goal was fortunate with a deflection, it could go anywhere and ends up in the back of our net.”
Thorn in our side ex-Swan Sam Clucas has been out with a back injury since November, but another ex-Swan Ben Wilmot will line up in central defence alongside 40 year old veteran Phil Jagielka, yes he’s still playing.
Stoke are 19th in the table and have just 3 wins in the last 10 matches, coincidentally the same as Swansea, should be an exciting match then.
The reverse fixture was last August, a 1-1 draw in Alex Neil’s first match in charge. Campbell scored a 91’ equaliser for Stoke after Piroe had fired home a close range shot on 6’. The result left us 21st in the table after just 1 win in 7 matches, a point above the drop zone.

16/8 Swans 2 Millwall 2 (Darling og 93’, Wood og 95’) - 3 points dropped
31/8 Stoke 1 (Campbell 91’) Swans 1 - 3 points dropped
13/9 Swans 0 Sheff Utd 1 (Khadra 94’) - 1 point dropped
8/11 Birmingham 2 (Deeney 89’j Swans 2 - 2 points dropped
4/2 Swans 3 Birmingham 4 (Jutkiewicz 90’, Trusty 97’) - 3 points dropped
18/2 Blackburn 1 Swans 0 (Ayala 89’) - 1 point dropped

We would be on 55 points and 4th in the table if we hadn’t conceded those late goals

Swans 1 (Whittaker 2’) - Stoke 3 (Laurent 15’, 19’, Baker 93’)

We now have the joint worst defence in the Championship with bottom club Wigan, 50 goals conceded.
It’s now three wins in the last 19 matches.
Another 3 goals conceded tonight as we collapsed against 19th placed Stoke after taking the lead. They had won only 3 of their last 10 games, and there we were again in robot mode trying to pass the ball out from the back until we lost it. We still can’t defend a corner after 18 months of coaching under Martin, we still concede on the counter attack, and still concede in the last few minutes of matches.
