New Investment

Blade for Life

Vital 1st Team Regular
As a club we have way over achieved this season. Chris Wilder has performed a minor miracle on limited resources. It is very doubtful that he will be able to replicate that 2 seasons running.
For me he has done exactly what has been asked of him and bought the Prince some time to secure the club and put plans in place.
Now it is time for the Prince to find New investment so we can cememt our place in the Premiership for many years to come and build a solid foundation.
I see this next period as absolutely pivitol in the clubs future for the next 10 years.
We ideally need:
2 quality strikers
1 young loan striker
1 quality ball carrying midfielder
1 quality CB
1 quality LWB to push Stevens
And a Hendo replacement
So far the Prince has delivered and done well, since the parting with McCabe, now is the biggest test of his ownership.

It's a test for Wilder and the recruitment team.

They had a good amount to spend after promotion and the results are underwhelming, despite our excellent season.

If we want to be comfortable next season they have to do better.

I expect them to do better. It's easier now. We're a more attractive proposition. We now know exactly what to expect in the PL and what we need. And despite the condensed pre season period they've had more than enough time to prepare and arrange deals.

The must signings are a starting keeper, a right sided defender who can preferably cover RCB and RWB, a pacy striker.

The upgrade signings are a right sided box to box player, a covering CB and specialist covering left back.

The improving our options signings are an attacking number ten, a right sided forward, perhaps one player could fill both roles. A midfield enforcer not afraid to put in a tackle.

That's a proposed 8ish fresh faces in the squad with at least as many leaving. Not an unreasonable number going into a new season, and the core group that make up the regular starting line-up will be staying.

What, like
Time will tell but i’m expecting a ‘major’ announcement before the start of next season.
What, like we haven't enough because we have a very large mortgage?
I expect CW to wheel and deal and gamble again on a few good players but untested at this level. Hope I'm wrong but to get the shopping list in full will take 2/3 T Ws.

Probably the most important close season for years and its shorter than usual. Agree we are more of an attraction for players now but we have to show the old order of pontificating for weeks on end to get a player in is now out of the door. Schieber is still part of the team hopefully the Princes way in dealing with matters quickly will enable him to lose his bad habits.

If Agents want too much move on as we need players in. Those hedging their bets on an extended contract move out if they don't sign by an agreed date.

The Board despite the current financial climate have to show ambition and a sign of that will be improved sponsorship. The current shirt sponsor deal that KM engineered for example is worth peanuts in comparison to the rest of the leagues deals.

Money in the short term should be directed towards team building and phased improved wage structures to enable us to compete with other teams. Ground redevelopment can wait for the moment.

3-4 key signings for me, nothing wholesale needed.

Creativity in midfield and pace up front mainly, especially if Mousset goes.

I would also look at possibly upgrading on Stevens with someone who can ideally play full back and winger, but that's not a top priority.

With K Freeman, Clarke, Retsos, Besic and Zivkovic leaving that's five off the bat the post JTW squad will need replacing - unless the likes of Norrington-Davies and Parkhouse are going to get promoted to the PL squad.

CW's said on a few occasions he's not a manager who stands still and he's not afraid to freshen up his squads with plenty of signings. The last three games coupled with the post restart away form were a very icy bucket of cold water tipped over CW and the fans.

Tom Cairney - been saying it for years

Conor Gallagher - been saying it since the start of last season

Olly Watkins - been saying it since before he went to Brentford

Let 6-8 "cover" players who never play go and bring three players in who will challenge for a shirt and we'll be improved immediately.

But then again, how could we possibly compete with Brentford, Fulham and Swansea

Gallagher would be a perfect signing.
