Middlesborough v Swansea

In what has been our poorest run of results for many years, if you include the back end of last season, we travel to Middlesborough on Saturday to try and recover.
Weak in defence and blunt in attack in our home games, we’ve carried over our poor form from the end of last season.
There’s no money in the kitty to buy our way out of trouble unless another player is sold. Since key player Downes departed for £9m we’ve only brought in Joe Allen on a free.
With the obvious weakness in depth of the squad, the lack of wingbacks with pace for Martin’s system, and no incomings, he may be forced to revert to a conventional 4-4-2.
Just a week of the window left and there is still interest in Piroe but with his dip in form and our dire situation his value has dropped considerably as a result. It’s no secret that he wants to play in the PL and whether his lack of enthusiasm in matches recently is in protest at his high valuation we’ll never know. Obafemi runs all day but has also lost form.
The only other player who can create and score goals is Paterson, who’s been out injured.
On a brighter note, 23rd in the table Middlesborough are also in poor form and haven’t won a match yet, but didn’t we say that about Luton, and they embarrassed us on our own patch last Saturday.
Our team, the Swans, languishing in 20th position in the table is not a nice experience, the longer we are there the harder it will be to pull ourselves out of it.
Good luck to the team on Saturday, we’ll need it with ref Robert Madley in charge.
Good luck also to the loyal supporters who travel on the official coaches. They will be charged a whopping £43 for the pleasure and depart from the stadium on the long journey at 5:30am.

The team:
Darling and Sorinola drop to the bench, replaced by Naughton and Congreve.

Swans: Andy Fisher; Nathan Wood, Kyle Naughton, Ben Cabango, Cameron Congreve, Joe Allen, Matt Grimes (c), Ryan Manning, Joel Piroe, Olivier Ntcham, Michael Obafemi.

Subs: Steven Benda, Jay Fulton, Harry Darling, Liam Cullen, Matty Sorinola, Ollie Cooper, Josh Thomas.

Middlesboro heading for their first win of the season.
Two shots on target, two goals
Congreve off, Sorinola on.

He’s brought in League One players and that’s where we’re heading.
The warning signs were there pre-season, drawing and losing against League One opposition and then losing to Oxford in the Cup

HT: 2-0
Swans one shot on target.
Coventry keeping us from being bottom of the table but have only played 3 games compared to our 6.
Swans one place above them in 23rd place if things stay as they are.

FT 2-1 90’+8
Middlesboro’s first win of the season at the sixth attempt.
We could have played all night and not scored.
We sit in the relegation zone tonight in 22nd spot.
We need to get rid of this guy before he takes us down, enough is enough.
