If it was the pulling of splinters out of arses world championships then Maguire and Philips are first on the team sheet but how they can be named in a squad where you represent your country by taking part in a football match I'll never know......they actually don't play football.....they train at football yes......but they don't play football and yet they can walk straight into a squad of 20 odd players with the chance of playing for their country.
Maguires not even in the top 20 players at United never mind England....and Philips made the money lining pockets move but didn't even consider he whether he would get in the City team or not....mind you all he has to do at the end of each week is have a look at his banking app online, that's when he knows he's a quality player, by how many millions he's got in the bank.

None of those should have been even near it... I know Southgate has tried to foster this loyalty and cohesion over time but at some point you need to have better players who are playing regularly for their clubs surely, for the next step?
Also slightly bizarre interview from Henderson today justifying his move to Saudi, it's sort of like fair play for doing it especially with journalists hostile to his decision to go there, but the answers are terrible so the point seems harder to fathom...
