Apparently EU work permit rules favour Argentinian players of Italian extraction. It seems that can get an EU passport.

Our purchases awaiting clearance are a Belgium and a Scot. 1 X EU passport.
1 X UK passport.
I think the wording of reports may have been at fault. I imagine clearance is already achieved. Just couldn't be done in the couple of days leading to.Bournemouth. Doesn't explain the Man U suggestion though.
