Not necessarily. The licences are available but with the present price of oil I would be very surprised if anybody takes them up!

disgraceful non-sensensical energy policy. Security of domestic energy supply? - how about not selling utilities to foreign companies?

Fracking technology is interesting although not that mature yet. As Steve says with oil prices at their lowest for many years I doubt its financially worth it right now.

I spoke to 2 oil engineers both stated if they frack near you move,a mineral specialist also stated this.
The give away oil exec's object when they try to apply to frack near them.
The worst thing is France banned it yet Total wants to frack here.
Why would you want to frack in an agricultural area, they are clueless with what to do over the waste 27 million gallons of radioactive waste was poured into the Manchester canal.
Its the heavy metals that will monkey with the water supply.

Interestingly it's the huge amount of fracking done in the U.S. that's lead to OPEC cutting oil prices to try and make fracking uneconomic. Oil prices down from $100+ a barrel to less than $45. Wouldn't surprise me if we see diesel under a pound a litre.

In which case, let's hope that the INCREASE production by that means in the USA. Not sure I want it here.
