Looks like, as expected the land behind the Fratton End will become a Tesco store with the club receiving money to do work on/redevelop Fratton Park from the income received.

There are two public meetings being held next week about the plans, but in the meantime some information can be found on the links below:

As long as the ground and stands keep their names and we do not lose land to it no issues, not sure about match day traffic, I know when Palace initially had Sainsburys built at one end they had to close early on match days, assume thats no longer the case

At least the wasteland around the ground will finally be used. That in itself will improve the club's appearance which is a good thing. Looks like the approach to the ground could also accommodate a statue of a renowned legend.

Sculptor Roger Holman starts full-time on the full-scale model next month, for public exhibition in October. Hopefully the development paths will cross and Pompey would consider a new home for our statue of Jimmy Dickinson?

Interesting that so little has been written about such a massive issue.

Apparently the plans are being revealed today & we should know much more.

However, the upshot is that because we don't own any of the land, we are really quite helpless to do much about this & really entitled to very little. It is only council planning conditions that could have any impact in our favour.

Also, Stuart Robinson lent the PST money to help fund the purchase. Either that is a virtuous thing, or he has bought himself a lot of goodwill very cheaply. Who knows.

Thought the plans were in the snooze during the week ,the store will be on the car park behind the Fratton End, the car parking will be behind the North stand

There's a consultation on at the moment which shows more detailed plans and images. The two tier Tesco with the parking underneath seems to be a standard design for them now.

They opened one up here by Old Trafford with a similar design towards te end of last year. Initially they restricted parkin on a match day to 90 minutes to stop football fans using it, but now charge £10.

would be a good thing, for the club and the local economy as it would offer up a good few jobs - smaller local shops will take a hit mind...

good to see such big things starting to, it seems, take development and allow us to start moving forward. just a shame that the club cannot completely benefit from this, due to not owning that land etc. but hey ho!
