Average Player Ratings v Rotherham United

OK, so it was our sixth successive exit at the first round stage of the League Cup; our last win was on 23 August 2005, a 5-1 win over Crewe. Whilst we will never be happy with a defeat, it was away to higher division opposition in poor weather. Danny was happy with various aspects of the performance, but what did Vital members think?

Last year's runaway Player of the Season ALEX WOODYARD returns to his accustomed position at the top of the pile after slipping to an ignominious fourth place at Wycombe.

"How good is he? The best midfielder we have had for many years and is just everywhere. Never seen anyone put as much effort in as Alex. He cajoles the opposition, gets tackles in, uses the ball brilliantly, in short, the perfect midfielder." (The Imposter)

For the first time this season we have a tie for second place, and it is two newcomers jostling for position. Goalkeeper JOSH VICKERS has a hard act to follow in Paul Farman, but he impressed everyone on his debut.

"Very good. A lot of saves you would maybe expect him to make but did well. Some excellent, fast throws out (into central midfield) which must have been practiced but very impressive." (Rasenimp)

Substitute OLLIE PALMER had a significant impact and may be pressing for a start against Morecambe.

"Very surprised by him, good strength and pacy and changed the flow of the game." (johnolbe)

1. Alex Woodyard 7.88
2. Josh Vickers, Ollie Palmer 7.38
-----------------------------------------------
4. Sean Raggett 7.13
5. Michael Bostwick 7.00
6. Harry Anderson 6.88
7. Rob Dickie 6.75
8. Neal Eardley 6.63
9. Billy Knott 6.50
10. Sean Long 6.25
11. Nathan Arnold 6.00
12. Matt Green 5.88
13. Jordan Maguire-Drew 5.38

The average team score of 6.69 was very similar to the 6.76 scored at Wycombe. All of which bodes well for the Morecambe game.

Interesting that it came out below Morecambe, it felt more accomplished but I guess there's a result qualifier on scores !

Rasen, what score do you predict this Saturday? You appear to have the gift, so I'd like to get to the bookies before the odds crash!
