Vital Football Legend
Former City inside forward Arthur Fitzsimons has died at the age of 88.

Joining City in March 1959 for £5,000, diminutive Irishman Fitzsimons had formed a fearsome Middlesbrough forward line with Brian Clough and Wilf Mannion throughout the 1950s, scoring 51 goals in 231 games for Boro. Unfortunately his time at Lincoln would be very short, making just 7 appearances (no goals) before moving on to Mansfield for £6,000 at the end of the season.

He is a significant name in the history of Lincoln City, as one of the very few Imps to win a full international cap whilst on the club's books. His appearance against Czechoslovakia in the European Championship in May 1959 proved to be his 26th and final cap for the Republic of Ireland.
