Who still has faith?

Do you still have faith that Ange will succeed?

  • Nope, he's too inflexible

  • Yes, he'll prove his critics wrong

  • I haven't a clue!

I wouldn't compare him to anyone that's won anything.
Not yet.
But as much as it pains me to say it - he'd be my manager of the year.
Woolwich have been phenomenal into the face of bigger budgets and more experience.
His players have been a credit to him.
As painful as it is to admit it, I completely agree.

But we must hope that Ange can become that manager too.

There aren't many bigger budgets, only Chelsea and United have bigger net spends over the past 5 years and the latter was only by £40m over the 5 years.

There is no chance that Ange becomes that manager imo.

Arteta has adapted his approach this season in so many ways. Ange point blank refuses to acknowledge any other way of playing.

Arteta came to WHL this season, was happy to sit in with two banks of 4 and hit us on the break on transitions.

Ange would never consider this approach.

In my view, you can’t go into every game committing so many players ahead of the ball and holding a line half way up the pitch regardless of what going on in the game.

Real Madrid will probably win the CL for the 15th time this season off the back of one of the best defensive displays I’ve seen in a long while against Man City.

If RM are prepared vary their game then we sure as hell should be.

We started so well, admittedly, largely against the no-hopers of the prem.

Then we hit a wall of injuries and our luck seemingly run out, many of the injured/ill still look like they are struggling to recover their fitness and consequently their form.

So our losses and poor performances have mounted, as have our increasing list of tactical or structural weaknesses in our play. Our goals conceded now may well top the charts for one of our worst goals scored against tally in a long time.

Bizarrely, to me, Ange then came out and said we showed it was one of our better recent performances. I discounted the two goals we scored, as by then Klopp was making wholesale changes and they had done the damage.

I think in the end we were lucky it wasn't 6 or more against us.

Four bad losses in a row now. Our defence looking like a shambles. No one leading the line, no one taking responsibility, and a keeper who now can barely command his box, our zonal non-existent marking wouldn't be accepted in my local U-11 side. But still we persist. It's baffling to me. Apparently, no defensive drills in training, why?!

Logically, I struggle to accept that 'it will be alright on the night' and when Ange has churned over 8-11 players in the summer.

If the current players don't believe or can't play his Ange ball and will be sold, why persist in an approach that hands a massive advantage to our opposition before a ball is kicked?

It makes no sense.

So, perhaps like me, as painful as it is, you will be now be questioning your support for Ange? Or you think it's all the players fault and your faith in Ange-ball and Ange remains unshaken, and you will support him no matter what, and hope that next season both he and the new squad can show us that they have got what it takes?

Vote in the poll and let's see if we're as divided as the squad allegedly is....

Changing manager is no different to Changing players.
We could send him out on loan to Stevenage perhaps cut his teeth in the lower leagues, then come back and we'll sack him then
😂😂

It's almost like he doesn't actually understand football.

For me I say we give him next season.
Unless we are relection fodder.

I think we have played crap football all season. There's been nothing that stands out to me. Even when we were top of the league I recall thinking how is this possible with the way we play.

I honestly don't know what his approach to the game is.
If Angeball means that we ship one or two or more goals per game I don't see it as a credible approach to Premier league football.

Giving goals away just so that you can attack and try and score more than the opposition is just schoolboy stuff.

The teams around us and those that come up from the championship are too good to allow a head start week in week out.

Plus, he's not going to have the budget or the pull to get the 25 players that could pull that type of approach off at this level.

In his previous jobs yes. They were one horse races from the start.

In addition, it must be hell on the players bodies. They'll be knackered or injured half the time.

From what is said he doesn't do much on the training pitch tactically. It's about fitness. Players will soon tire of it and become dissolutioned if we are losing week in week out.

I wonder if that is already part of the problem.

The so called 'bad apples' have all seemingly exited the club - but now we are still criticising the new signings and the ones that are left for lack of effort.

That makes no sense to me.

I think there are many ifs and buts. And it's going to be a very bumpy road.

But as 80 has said. We need to change something. I just am not convinced that this is the guy to do it.
Let's be candid here. We can't bloody well defend. We couldn't do it with any of the coiaches we had before & we certainly can't do it now. Whether they be a specialist coach or not. What does that say of us moving forward? An awful f*****g lot i reckon.

We've tried 3 ultra defensive coaches of which one was worth his salt. Unfortunately as we are want to do, we broke the poor sausage & he hasn't been seen or heard of since. In fact i reckon he'll probably never work again.

So we wanted our identity back. What is that exactly? As far as i am aware that involves flowing front foot football. In reality what we've seen over the years are glimpses of promise followed by baron spells & disappointment. Is it any wonder we're so disillusioned.

Ange has been brought in to steady the ship. He's done so with a record haul of points for a 1st time manager in a top six side. What thanks has he received? Well let's start with the players. We're all aware that they know best. They've played their part in doing absolutely SFA in their time here. Who in the hell do they think they are? They're under performing whatever which way you look at it & it's not as many believe, all on the coach.

The fans deserve better. What have we had to cheer about lately? Quite a lot actually. 14 straight seasons in Europe culminating in our 1st ever CL Final. 4 Finals. Okay we lost the lot but we still had the pedigree to get there. Didn't help matters we sacked a Cup Final specialist a mere 5 days before a final & handed the reigns over to a rank amateur. I'll not hear another word on that scenario either. In my view it was a total farce & hurt us more than it hurt him.

Where do we go from here? Sack him or stick? I believe we should follow through with his experiment. What have we really got to lose. We've tried everything else bar buying the best & it's gotten us absolutely nowhere. Sack him & we'll be the biggest laughing stock in English football. A guy who got us 5th in his debut season, with a record haul of points, in year 1 of a rebuild. It doesn't really get any dafter than that does it?

Great post.

Great post bud!

He'll qualify for Europa in his first season, that entitles him to a second. I'm not sure though whether he has enough quality going forward, and fear that Levy will cut back on the level of further investment, until Pochettino returns, which I am sure will happen at some stage.
I wouldn't hold your breath. Could you imagine the ridicule he'd receive for doing so? To sack the guy & rehire him at a time when we were struggling. If i know Daniel like i know Daniel, he would never allow himself to show a moment of weakness. Not even for Poch.

We HOPE we will...I am not 100% confident we will yet....heck we could still finish 8th!

I've royally thrown my toys out of the pram and lost interest until the end of the season.

Let's see what he can do in the transfer window this summer, but I can't stand another season of slowly rolling the ball around in the opposition's half waiting for a low cross into the 6 yard box.

Add that to the nonsense at the other end of the pitch, I'm just not sure if it will get better.
