Troy Deeney

Seem to remember Hess as manager getting sent off and bringing himself on as a sub. Sure someone remembers the detail or am I making that up?

Correct against Cardiff around 2002 or 2003.

He did it again a few years later when he was serving a touchline ban as the manager but named himself as a sub against Leeds. He had to sit in the stands until he wanted to come on. And he wasn't allowed to warm up on the side of the pitch so had to warm up in the changing room or something.

Yup. V Cardiff away. A 5-0 drubbing.

Got some wicked Charlie at London Bridge afterwards which helped numb the pain all them years ago.

Normally managers get the sack after they loose to Gillingham not before playing us.
Our match vs Forest green a few weeks ago was actually Deeney’s first game in charge, so whoever takes the game on Saturday it will be the same again for them.
2 chances for new manager bounce for FG in a few weeks and unknown tactics / style for Clemence to face again.

FGR enter the game tomorrow in a complete mess. In theory this should significantly enhance our chances of winning & perhaps dishing out our first tonking of this campaign. But the sacking also uplifts the potential banana skin status of the fixture. Always nervous when we appear to be firm favourites.
