I think playing in blue is a poke in the eye to england fans. Its white or red - simples, anything else is purely taking the p over commercialism.
Especially as blue is Scotland’s colour.

England used to have light blue (à la Man City) as a third kit, I don't remember ever seeing it worn (Mexico 1970 maybe????) and I have no problem with that but it seems all teams now have a third kit and pull it out at any given opportunity just to get sales going.
Our old pink third kit being a case in point, how gross was that? Bayo Akinfenwa running around in pink away to Colchester was just an act of cruelty.
