Match Thread: Leyton Orient v Lincoln City

All very different from what happened in the Burnden Park disaster in 1946. Due to overcrowding more than 30 people were crushed to death when barriers collapsed.

The players left the pitch while casualties were taken from the terrace. Those who had died were laid along the touchline and covered in coats, but less than half an hour later the game was restarted with them still there, separated from the players by a new sawdust lined touchline.

Of course that happened just after six years of war, but thankfully attitudes to such things have moved on since then.

It’s like having HSE training and saying, CPR, nah don’t bother with that never works 😨
Or, don't try to save someone, just in case someone sues you aftwards.

Don't hit the chest hard to try to re-start the heart, just in case you break a rib. Clearly, being dead with an intact rib is better than being alive iwth a broken one.
