Good Morning Thread

Snowing heavily & nobody's venturing out. Ahhh absolute bliss.

The missus got her usual bouquet of flowers & bottle of fine wine. She then helped herself (at my expense of course) to a rather expensive scarf which i'm not best pleased about. Women are cunning lil devils.

Tomorrow, in Mrs PY's eyes it is her most important day for us as a couple, not our wedding Anniversary, mmm! 40+ years

I ask her why? her reply! is that was the day this "cheeky bastard" came up to me and said "if I had known better I would have got ya some flowers", anglo saxon language followed from her, and later that day, her words, "I found a huge bouquet with a bottle of La Jardin, her fave, in my car", RS Escort at the time, "how did you break in it?" it is still a secret of mine, lol! street knowledge you see.

But the result is a fortune has been spent on flowers every year, weekly, monthly every bloody event, by myself, ah! well she is worth it.

Another classic from my wife today.
I had to pick a table up ans knew roadworks were en route so I skirted around them using roads she did not recognise. We came out the other side of the roadworks and she pointed to a shopping centre park with all the same shops like Next and M and S etc.

She said, oh look another shopping centre like Rushden Lakes !!

I said yes, very much like it, because it is Rushden Lakes. !!

She said ....well I dont know where we are , you've gone all around the houses !!

If this pitch in the second test doesn’t invoke an enquiry , I will be amazed.
It’s not right that a test should be won on the outcome of the toss .
If England had won the toss , it would have been just as bad .
The team batting last will not have a chance of making runs .

I fully expected India to come back strongly in the test series, but today hasn't been good for England. Openers are an ongoing problem, and there is too much dependency overall on Root, Stokes and Anderson. I've never fully bought in to the principle of different squads and different players for different formats of cricket. For that reason I really believe that with the ongoing problem with openers, Bairstow should open the innings irrespective of the format. He'll fail on a few occasions, but will also give England the initiative more often than not.

I think he is back for the next test . Only for his batting though . Or have I got that wrong . I can’t keep up with all the comings and goings.

I’m sure Greavsie will delight in correcting me.

17 test matches in a year is a bit much . .

Does anyone know the Covid situation in India ?
The crowd is back in at the test match , there isn’t any social distancing and hardly a face mask in sight .
As per normal , they are singing and dancing at every opportunity, wildly in fact , when Ashwin reached that brilliant hundred .
Makes me wonder why the team is in a “biosphere bubble “
. Or perhaps that is the exact reason .

I suspect that they'd close down everything else before putting restrictions on an India vs England cricket series! Fifty percent crowd allowed I believe, but not much social distancing going on.
