Zak to retire?

Looks like Zak is about ready to retire from his international career. A shame for him but clearly it probably makes sense as he gets older.

Good news for us though. No Zak going off to international games a long way away and the chance to build a solid consistent defence, and obviously a consistent captaincy will have benefits also.

Would be good news indeed. I would imagine pulling the international plug though is not perhaps that straightforward. I can imagine that playing for the D R Congo, a country ravaged on and off by war, has a certain feel to it and that his decision won't be taken lightly.
 
I was fearing the worst when I saw the thread title.

Not that I'd be happy if Zak had to retire from internal football, but can only be a good thing for our defence.
