Youth - U23 - Loans Thread

The ball played through for the first goal was stunning.

And the reverse ball played through for the third goal was just as good.
 
Admittedly it's only against similar age group but these kids can play. I think we'd be higher in that league if it wasn't for certain players being in the 1st team squad.
As for Young and Barry ( and fitting in with the Death of a Striker thread) I'd consider them more in the mold of your wide forwards like Salah and Mane
 
it looks very good for the future, if we can hold our own in the latter half of the season, these lads could be part of the squad ,i see some vision coming from the club, its going in the right direction,,,seanie
It's loans and involvement with first team that seems to hold the U23s back a bit. Not bothered which league the lads are in really, but always nice to get a W on the board. As you say, the most exciting group of youngsters for some time.
 
We used to have the opposite approach of keeping players in the U23s making the U23s look good but with 22 year olds getting no experience of adult football

I remember it well our u21/23 side being hailed as brilliant than when you looked at the opposition they were under18s playing our 22-year-olds.
It's not about winning reserve leagues it's about producing a player to sell or for the 1st team. Most of our u23 team now are only 16/17/18
