Youth - U23 - Loans Thread

Villa,s number 10 was the smallest player on the pitch Teddy Rowe. He was however the Villa,s best player. We did bring a lad on up front number 16 who looked useful. No idea of his name?
Edit just found the team sheet in the wifes bag. Ruben Shakpole.

Two youngsters recalled from their loans. Louis Barry from Ipswich and Arjan Raikhy from Stockport.

Barry has had a couple of injuries but from the looks of it just hasn't been given anything like a proper chance there. They apparently signed 6 strikers in the summer and their manager has gone with experience over our youngster. Not that its done him much good as he was sacked a few weeks back after an awful start to the season. From what I've seen Barry will be off to join Kessler at Swindon.

Raikhy is a strange one. From what I've read from Stockport fans they acknowledge that he's clearly a player but again their manager has apparently gone with experience and runners over a youngster who might be better technically.

I’ve heard that Barry could be on his way to Swindon on loan now he’s returned from Ipswich. Been an absolute waste of four months there…if you’re out on loan you have to get valuable game time or what’s the point. On the other hand it may have provided him with a bit of a reality check that he’s got plenty of hard work ahead of him if he’s to make it at the top level. Ipswich have had a poor start to the season and he still couldn’t get a game. You’d hope a club like Swindon in League 2, would provide a better opportunity for him as YKW’s stint did at Notts County all those years ago!

Dom Revan returning from Northampton as well now. Not played much by the look of it although sounds like that may be due to injuries.

On the other side of the coin, the same could be said about Tuanzebe, although granted, different circumstances.

A lot of these kids will have learnt a lesson from their loans ie they don't want to end up playing in those leagues, not sure what else they learn apart from how to hoof the ball and battle like a nut job.

I know when I was a kid I got sent out to a Car Dealership /garage as part of my apprentice, In no effing way was I ever going back to those conditions and I made sure I made it in the role I was destined for. A horrible experience but a vital one, a learning curve .

Hopefully, Barry and co have learnt too

Barry, Raikhy, Revan and now Brad Young heading back to Bodymore after not really getting much of a crack out on loan. Shows how well Kessler must be doing that he's become a regular at Swindon who are fighting for promotion in league 2.

I think he'll be the next in the 1st team squad next season, we'll probably let Ashley young go at the end of the season

With Christmas and the New Year celebrations now out of the way, it can only mean one thing - the January transfer window has slammed open and we look forward to an endless month of invention, hype, nonsense and BS as the media search for clicks. For Aston Villa fans, it'll be no different for us as following Steven Gerrard's arrival we can expect an uptick in Rangers and Liverpool speculation, along with rumours linking us to anyone Gerrard may have once seen play or heard of.
