Youth - U23 - Loans Thread

You can only assume he's being very badly advised by his agent.

I wonder if Purslows claim that he was the best 16 year old in the country is coming back to bite us on the bum a bit. Given his agent a good excuse to try to milk the club a bit.

As another Aston Villa Academy graduate gets recalled from a not quite successful loan spell out away from the club, we announced yesterday that another talented youngster was heading out himself for some real first team experience, and this time it was former Northampton Town striker Caleb Chukwuemeka, who heads north of the border to Scottish Premiership side Livingston.

It's been a lively week for Aston Villa fans and we have seen a subtle change in our transfer policy following the arrival of 28-year-old Lucas Digne, and prior to him, 29-year-old Philippe Coutinho - but clearly the club are still keeping one eye on the future and we've added another talent to our improving Academy set up in the shape of Kerr Smith, Seb Revan has headed back out on loan and Tyreik Wright has returned on what was a busy Friday for the club.

Following on from the confirmation that young and talented striker Caleb Chukwuemeka would spend the second half of the 2021/22 campaign out on loan with Scottish Premiership side Livingston, as the 19-year-old Aston Villa prospect prepares to hopefully make his debut for the side later this evening when they face Dundee, he has revealed that John McGinn backed Steven Gerrard's decision to recommend (and offer) him to Livi and manager David Martingale, and not Rangers.

From what I could tell, steady debut, got involved but didn't really do much and wasn't on for long anyway and they were 2-0 up already so probably coasting. Won't have harmed him though as he settles in.

I bet he's thinking I've swapped Northhampton for Scotlands version of Milton Keynes!

Philogene-Bidace apparently been sent to Stoke as they will be playing him in a number 10 role not as a winger. Makes sense with our change in shape since Gerrard came in.

That's very interesting. He's one I'd assumed was going to slip through the net now given our change of shape. Good to see Gerrard rates him highly enough to want to keep him and adapt him into a 10.
