Youth cup at OT

Got some talented lads if we can keep hold of them we have also had one or two good young players in the past

Every single one of our lads should be proud as we very nearly matched them but, and there is a but, they had the key players to win the game. #'s 4 and 5 and 9 were the difference. 2 centre halves missed nowt and shit off a shovel upfront got to several lumps forward. Great effort but correct result.
Aye, their number 4 was an absolute monster. Thought their right back looked good as well, another built like a tank but had some nifty footwork. Our two centre midfielders deserve massive credit for shacking their midfielder with the dodgy barnet. He was getting visually frustrated.

It was a delight to be there...so many children, just hope some stick with it.

Agree with your assessment of the game United looked a little slicker than us and the centre back and centre forward were the difference, not sure if United even had an English player on, they are picking the cream from all over Europe we are picking from a 40mile radius of Wigan. The Wigan lads should be very proud tonight

So important we don't allow our youth and dev squad kids to be picked off by the greed league academies.
Seems we've got great coaching and recruitment at these levels.
These lads must be given opportunities with the first team squad rather than loaning kids fm prem teams if we are to progress the stated business plan of the owners.

Nail on the head there HindleyM... Utd youngesters were comfortable on the ball & at ease with the surrounds cos even in an empty OT stadium it's still a huge place to come & play some football - we def gave them a good game n on another night might have nicked it.Huge praise tho for our young lads, the coaching staff & the turn out which hopefully we reap the rewards from with a fair few of the young lads making it to the first team & beyond.

The lads were an absolute credit to their families and the club. Fans were amazing. Some real talent and some fantastic teachers in our academy and it looks like Roberto and Whelan's dream is coming to fruition finally.
Hopefully we can develop more of the lads within the club and cash in rather than lose them early and see them loaned out to our opposition but at the moment what a brilliant feel good and positive factor it is to know that we have that quality in our ranks.
Well done everyone responsible for this.

According to a poster on CL, Utd paid £6M for the French lad at No10 when he was 16.
If true, that puts it even more into perspective what an incredible job our development coaches and scouts are doing.
Well done to everyone concerned from top to bottom.

I thought there was some rule in the greed league that players had to come from within a certain area.
If so it's a big area as It's only had about three English players playing last night.

I think as long as they are born on earth, PL clubs can sign them.
We had a local lad who came on as sub, who apparently comes from the little known Wigan suburb that's known locally as Norway.
