...fuck it, given the social distancing awkwardness and lack of any football until the Summer it feels like the season’s ended. We might as well begin with the Summer debates.

Favourite voices/sounds of the 90’s, maybe early 2000’s. Feel free to put in favourite bands, songs, whatever.

- George Michael (both his haunting ones and upbeat stuff.
- Dolores O’Riordan. Zombie by the Cranberries.

Voice - I've got a lot of time for Tom Jones with Delilah, and also Dave Grohl on plenty of tracks. I love it when you listen to the vocal tracks of some hard rock/metal songs, and the voice really stands up. Same for Robert Plant

Sounds - a country village cricket ground on a warm summer's day - ball on willow, ripples of applause, children playing on the boundary, larks singing high above. The promise of a cold pint being poured at the tea interval. Bliss.

Voice - Pavarotti. I get hairs on the back of my neck just thinking about his rendition of Nessun Dorma.

Sounds; my kids telling me they love me, bacon sizzling, the sound of Gills fans singing when you're entering a stadium, the sound of my driver when I absolutely nail a tee shot (rare), the sound of the lid coming off the first beer of a weekend, the theme tune to Peep Show.

Yes, the cricket one, especially sound of ball on my willow bat. Unfortunately that's likely to be a slight snick sound.

Respect Wayne, some excellent choices there. Particularly surprised and heartened by the choice of Lana Del Ray. Incredible talent but I feared I might be the sole admirer on this board. Elena and I have somewhat different musical tastes but are both really into Lana.

I liked Wham and loved George's solo stuff.

The "toilet incident" music video is just a great piss-take - pardon the pun:

One of my all time favourites has died
RIP Kenny Rogers.
This song he recorded in 2013 with Dolly Parton is a lasting tribute.
"You can't make old friends".

What will I do when you are gone?
Who's gonna tell me the truth?
Who's gonna finish the stories I start,
The way you always do?
When somebody knocks at the door,
Someone new walks in
I will smile and shake their hands,
But you can't make old friends
You can't make old friends
Can't make old friends
It was me and you, since way back when
But you can't make old friends
How will I sing when you are gone?
'Cause it won't sound the same
Who'll join in on those harmony parts,
When I call your name?
You can't make old friends
Can't make old friends
It was you and me, since way back when
You can't make old friends
When Saint Peter opens the gate,
And you come walking in
I'll be there just waiting for you
'Cause you can't make old friends
'Cause you can't make old friends, no no
When I'm out on the stage all alone
And I hear the music begin
We all know the show must go on
But you can't make old friends, no no
You can't make old friends
Can't make old friends
And you and me, will be young again
You can't make old friends
You and me, will be together again
'Cause we both know, we will still be old friends
You can't make old friends
Not the way we have always been.

I will miss all my old friends at Priestfield so this song has a personal meaning for even those who will never have a name that I have spoken too over the years. Some I am sure have long passed through the pearly gates.

I think she is an amazing talent - one of the very few - a bit OTT sometimes so what that song [and many others] is the dog's doo dahs
