Your Favourite Alcoholic Drink?

Light, dry, hoppy real ales are my favourite if I can get one I can drink. My wine taste is much the same as Notty's. Love a French Cabernet or Shiraz. Big bold wines but they never get quite so ripe as they do in the new world so have a greeness about them I really like. I won't say no to a new world heavy red though. Most of the time I drink premium lagers though as not much else in most pubs is sfv (safe for vegans)

Wine, red. Tend to go French as I don't get on with the really big, fruity New World types as well.

Red wine is also my number one choice but i am partial to Belgian beer and i mostly buy in France at this gaff in Quercamps(half hour south of Calais) near ST Omer.
https://www.hallesdequercamps.com/vin-3/vin-rouge/crozes_hermitage_rouge.html

Choice of nearly 4000 wines at hallesdequercamps and I make 3 or 4 trips a year filling the motor and buying decent stuff, no piss.
Rhones my are main focus plus good quality mid range Bordeaux.
If you were to buy the same gear here in the Uk you would be truly shafted in the pocket .................................down to my last 70 bottles atm.+ 100 elsewhere in the flat on the south coast.
STAY SAFE AND SOBER.

Do they sell babycham Devon ( just asking for a friend);)
In all seriousness my favourite drink tends to alter depending on circumstance. I’m very fond of amber or golden ales, some IPA’s, XB,XXB,Tribute,Doom Bar, Abbott and like to try local ales when I’m on holiday or before an away game. I’ve got a couple of local ones(Fiskerton brewery) in the fridge at the moment which I’m enjoying. I sometimes drink lager in the summer as long as it tastes of something (not Fosters,I’d rather go without)I’m also partial to nice soft red wines and dry white ones (more in the summer) and also a nice rhubarb gin

Cham has gone into severe short supply since the panic buying due to the coronavirus outbreak.
Rumour doing the rounds but not medically substantiated is that drinking Babycham has some good long term health benefits if mixed with brandy, but i think in all honesty that`s just another 5G moment.
KEEP SAFE UP THERE IN RASEN.

For those who do like their Belgian beers, I do know of a couple of pubs on my side of the country that specialise in them.
Den Engel in Leek.
And The Bhurtpore near Nantwich.
Only been once to the Leek one, but a regular visitor to the Bhurtpore. They do really good pub curries and have a huge menu of Belgian beers (most of which you'll get in the right glass for that brand too!).

Looking forward to a trip back there once all this is over.

I remember going to a bar in Brugges many, many years ago and getting a 10-page beer menu. :grinning:

see you there.........mine`s a madras with a large saag aloo, brinjal bhaji and rice.

once this lockdown is over and i am fit and healthy i will be off over the channel to restock on beers and wine..........if i have any money left.
(all this as we hurtle towards a monster recession!).........hold on tight?

That matches with a trip i made to the heart of the Rhone when i stopped at a restaurant by the river in Tain-l`hermitage...............every single bottle of wine on the wine list was from the Rhone, not a single bottle from any another area of France........quality..........parochial but good.

Was ales especially the stronger IPAs for me but moved on to sour hipster beer at the moment. Sourer the better, our local bar was delivering so got loads of cans in.

This is a good one: https://www.eebriatrade.com/products/beer/bad-seed-brewery/25095-electric-rain

And this one
https://honestbrew.co.uk/shop/ridgeside-fubarb-rhubarb-custard-sour/ (definitely more of the rhubarb...)

And this is good although a bit too drinkable at 8.8%

Re: sours, if you like them strong (i.e. super sour) try this one if you haven't already:

Had a can from Morrisons and it made my salivary glands ache!

Most wheat beers, with a slice and a squeeze of lime. Favourite one is And Union Steff Weiss but also appreciate any Bavarian Hefe Weisse. The standard regulars like Hoegaarden, Blue Moon, Erdinger etc. are also more than passable.

Wine? Definitely red and preferably French, Italian or Spanish.

Pub drink? Draught Adnams Mosaic and Camden Pale are probably my two favourites.

Not a big drinker. About 5 to 10 units a week, sometimes not at all. I'm a bit of a lightweight but I like Aspall's cyder - especially the premier cru.
Red wine, I try to get McGuigan Black Label. For the price it's unbeatable.
Gin - Adnams Copper House, Tanqueray or Roku.

I do like a Hoegaarden.
First had it bought for me by my old guitarist mate, Richard Holgarth, in a music venue, Les Quatres Ecluses, over in Dunkerque.
Loved it from the first mouthful. And must have drunk loads of it in intervening 30 odd years.

Bad Seed are our local brewery in Malton, North Yorkshire. I know the company well. Good lads. Also try another great Malton brewer, Brass Castle. Good for vegans. We are all micro food and drink producers in Malton, trying to keep our small businesses going. I am a coffee roaster based in Malton.

Staff furloughed. Just me roasting and keeping the online sales ticking over. New website and online shop just launched for this change of circumstance. Check us out. Roost Coffee. For any non-alcoholic boost. Keep safe.

Bought some Aspall, Stowford Press and some more Thatcher's earlier.

Also love Black Dragon and Old Rosie.

If anyone fancies some Scottish real ales, the Lade Inn in Kilmahog (yes there's really a place called that!) has an online shop called Scottishrealales.com and sells a selection from quite a lot of different breweries.

And right now I quite fancy an Arran blonde.
