Young blood for the first team

It would be great to see some EDS talent break through into the first team. Diaz, Foden and Sancho are those cited by Khaldoon although the text it stops short of confirming that they are actually confirmed as becoming first team squad members. I hope they get the chance to show their worth and aren't there to help fulfil the home grown quota (in the case of the latter two).

"Manchester City to promote trio of youngsters to Pep Guardiola’s first team"

I think we all would like to see homegrown players come through and kick ass in the prem, but they have to be good enough to do so. Football is a results business more than ever these days, so a coach has to pick his moments. Pep could do better bringing on young guns for 10 minutes when the game is in the bag to give them real first team experience in my view.

I would like to see those three plus Tosin go out on loan, but apart from Tosin another season in the EDS wont do them any harm.

Sancho looks the most likely to break through and Diaz is not far behind.

If they are good enough they will get their chance then it will be up to them if they get a regular place.

My first thought when I read the headline was "but he didn't say that", or at least that wasn't how I interpreted what he did say. I took it as a sort of 'all's well' with the academy and it won't be too long before it starts bearing real fruit. I certainly didn't take it as Foden, Diaz and Sancho will definitely play in the PL this coming season :048: I'd be (pleasantly) surprised if any of them made the squad or even made first team appearances to be honest. One thing I did notice was the lack of reiteration of the ambition to have a first team where at least half of them are academy trained in 5 years. They've presumably realised that was too ambitious.
Pep is a firm believer in giving youth it's chance, so I'm confident lads will start to come through. He's been criticised for not giving them a chance last season, but I get why he didn't. He needed to be absolutely clear who out of the existing squad was going to be worth keeping.
