We're under lockdown AND curfew. I think it's the equivalent of double secret probation in Animal House. There were some minor incidents last night, mainly to show Duluth's not unconnected, we're not unaware, and the powers-that-be said right, we're taking no chances tonight. Our police chief has been superb. His reaction to the initial killing, my officers are in the business of saving lives, not taking them. Let's hope they can hold the line.

All the best JM. I understand the protests but they're completely undone by the violence and looting. Now Trump has declared ANTIFA as terrorists I can see it getting worse. You're going to get people with different agendas, particularly those opposite to ANTIFA, doing more damage claiming it's in ANTIFA's name. Why do people think it's necessary to destroy and loot to get their message across? (I know some are merely using the protests as cover to do so). This is not the way to remember, or get justice for, George Floyd.

Yes, I was quite surprised to find that the protestors consider the supermarkets were also to blame.
People are not blaming supermarkets. They are blaming the system. Police are one part of that, but also are large corporates.

The attacking of big corporations is a classic 'rage against the machine'. It's a prime example of showing anger towards the system.

The system is shown to be broken. Its not working for black people. The system includes commercialism etc. Black people feel powerless and its a way to try to gain back the feeling of power. If they can steal from big corporates without being caught then they feel some of the power is coming back to them. I saw an interesting article on bbc about this with quotes from people who studied riot causes/behaviour. It made total sense to explain why people were rioting and looting. Is it right? No. Can i understand it? Absolutely.

The language used by the likes of trump only makes things worse too.

I think we have a long way to go, the problem is deep rooted in peoples sub-conscious, when the news refer to him as "African American" rather than just American, it says volumes. I have never heard talk of English American, Dutch American, French American, why is there this fundamental difference, I should say it works both ways.

Italian American is a common phrase

Bada Bing 😜

100,000 dead
1 in 4 workers unemployed
Queues at food banks
Riots in the streets

This is what Americans have been told would happen under socialism but it's happening under Trump, the macho-man tough guy who hides like a coward in an underground bunker when the people take to the streets.

A government that cannot mobilise to feed and house it's people during a pandemic but which can mobilise immediately when the same people take to the streets to protest against a racist killing by the police tells you all you need to know about the system.

Trump and others may blame Antifa and anarchists for 'violence' but is it really they who are violent? Is it not the system that is 'violent'?
Was it Antifa and anarchists who started the violence or was it the violence of the system, manifested in yet another killing of an innocent black man, was that not the violence that triggered such rage?
Was it Antifa and anarchists who started the protests or was it an abused people whose indignation simply turned to rage?
A rage against a system which systematically condemns and confines people to poverty. A rage against a system which periodically kills people who have the wrong colour skin.

Populism and the far right might have seemed to be in the ascendancy in recent years but one wonders, are they ready for the time when people's indignation turns to rage? Will they be ready for the inevitable fight back? Early indications from the States are that they wont know what's hit them.

Anarchists support the rage. Anarchists are ready and waiting; anarchists have been anticipating the rage.

Anarchists were already aware and enraged by the corruption, aware and enraged by the racism, by the injustice, by the exploitation and by the abuses of the system. They are just waiting for the people to also become aware and then become enraged.

Anarchists encourage people to wake up. But people don't usually wake up until they see and experience these things for themselves. When that happens, when they do experience or witness the violence of the state, they become enraged by the violence. Only then is the violence of the state met with the violence of the people. A violence born out of a rage that has been awoken by the violence of the state. Anarchists don't encourage violence but they support the rage of the people against the violence of the system. Support the People, Fuck the System.

Ya Basta! Ya Basta! No Justice No Peace! Ya Basta! Ya Basta!

But why is the violence directed at normal people and their businesses? Two wrongs don't make a right.

It's not.

Anarchists never target normal people's businesses. If any 'normal people' have had their businesses targeted it would definitely not have been by anarchists, that simply doesn't make any sense. There are three types of people who might have though. In no particular order, they are:

1) Agent provocateurs
2) Enraged people with no brains
3) Nihilists.

The anarchists are the good guys. ?
That's obvious by your earlier post.

Antifa are just the other side of the fascist coin.

Most people grow out of that.

Don't make much sense to burn down your own neighbourhood ?

Far too simplistic, shotshy.

You need to think about things a little more deeply if you want to understand why it does make sense, or, if you prefer, why it makes no sense to not burn it down.

The news reports from the US look like a 60s remake and the word curfew is laden with doom. It's hard to avoid the conclusion that we are regressing in some ways.

I am an anarchist. Of course we are the good guys!

Antifa are not the other side of the fascist coin? Opposing fascism is what they do. Just like those dead servicemen, who you remember with your fucking poppies, opposed and fought against fascism.

Don't believe the Trump bullshit about Antifa. Trump is a fascist, of course he will try to denigrate that which opposes him. Don't believe his hype and don't just believe me. Do some actual fucking research on the matter.

You missed one I am afraid, Buddha. People with no cause or political leanings. They just want to nick stuff.
