Yorkshire T20 fixtures 2020

14/09/20
Roses T20 game at Headingley 6.30 tonight. Malan is back in the Yorks squad.

Update 1- Rumour that several Yorks players have been sent for Covid tests, so we may be fielding a depleted team tonight

Update 2 - Malan IS playing, but quite a lot of youngsters are in the team tonight, including T20 debutant Wharton, who is a batsman , I think (never seen him play!)

Update 3 - Yorks made a decent start but lack of experience in the team was then exposed as Yorkshire made 145-9, which is unlikely to be enough to win.

Update 4 - Lancs 148-4 and won by six wickets against a Yorks team missing Kohler-Cadmore, Fisher, Poysden and Willey. Their Covid test results were not received before match was due to start

Shame that. Would have been nice to get a win for the youngsters in the team - hope the Covid tests have gone OK.

16/09/20 T20 game v Durham at Headingley sceduled for tonight 6.30pm . Root, Bairstow and Rashid are on England duty. No announcement made yet about the players who had Covid tests.

Update 1 - One player (David Willey) has tested positive for the virus. The other three will not be playing further in the competition. Malan and Olivier are both playing tonight, but still quite a few inexperienced players in our starting line-up.
Durham batting first. Live stream link on White Rose Cricket Forum.

Update 2 - Durham 147 all out. Having Olivier back made a positive difference.

Update 3 - After hitting 11 runs off the first over Yorkshire quickly collapsed. Only Fraine(28) looked reasonably comfortable. The youngsters have found it difficult to step up from second eleven cricket.
Yorkshire were skittled for 104 all out on a very green-looking Headingley pitch. Durham won by 43 runs. Disappointing after a decent Yorks bowling performance.

17/09/20 Lancs v Yorks T20 6.35pm tonight

Only playing for pride now (barring miracles) , but more chances for the young 'uns to show what they can do. Thompson has done ok, but he is a few years older and is more experienced than the others, and is more of a proper "reserve" player than somebody straight from the youth team. The younger players are generally finding it hard going, but you have to start somewhere.

Update 1 - Joe Root is back in the squad for tonight. Young George Hill is left out as a concussion precaution , after being hit on the head whilst batting last night. He definitely looked a bit groggy. Think we have just about got eleven fit players left!

Update 2- Yet more Yorkshire T20 debut chances for two youngsters - left-arm spinner Sam Wisnievsk, and Matt Revis, who must be a batsman. (Revis has played in a 4-day game previously)
Lancs batting 41-1.

Update 3 -Lancs 167-6 (innings closed). Wivnieski bowled ok - didn't take a wicket, but didn't get tonked either.

Update 4 . Good partnership from Lyth and Root. Lyth has just been run out. Yorks now 117-2.

Update 5 - Root just run himself out for 64. Great innings, but didn't need to take the risk. Yorks 132-3, with 4 overs left.

Update 6 - Brook out lbw. Yorks 140-4

Update 7 - Fraine run out now!

Update 8 - Thompson caught on boundary. Need 12 runs off last over now. Revis in now.

Update 9 - Yorks 160-6 (innings closed) Didn't quite make it again. Three silly run outs after being in a commanding position in the game. Lancs won by 7 runs, but we probably wouldn't have been able to qualify for the next stage , even if we had won tonight

At least giving the youngsters game time means they can push on and become first team regulars in the next couple of years - hopefully.

Last game of the season for Yorkshire today - 1pm start. Could be another player making his T20 debut?

Update 1- It's a bit of a mixture of Test Match players and young lads today! Reserve wicketkeeper Ben Birkhead gets his Yorkshire T20 debut. Derbys won toss and are batting first at sunny Headingley. Live stream via Yorkshire White Rose Cricket Forum website.

Update 2 - Derbys made a great start, reaching 100-0 off 12 overs, on a surprisingly placcid Headingley pitch. However , Yorkshire managed to slow them down a bit after that and Derbys finished on 167-6 (innings closed). Better fielding from Yorkshire today - including a juggling catch at second attempt by Olivier, a full-stretch diving catch from young keeper Birkhead, and a difficult one in the deep, over his shoulder, by Lyth.

The Yorks innings got off to a poor start, losing wickets and getting behind the run rate, but with Joe Root (60 n.o.) at the crease, we always had a chance. His batting technique and placement shone through, but even he failed to put away some full tosses and could only get a leg bye off a free hit. Mature innings by Harry Brook today (50 n.o.) in a match-winning partnership with Root, and Brook hit the winning runs off the last ball of the 20th over. We made hard work of it, but got there in the end, winning by six wickets. Entertaining match.
At least we finished the season with a victory and avoided bottom place in the group.

That's all from Yorkshire cricket for this season folks!

In a rain delayed end to the competition, Notts eventually beat Surrey by 6 wickets in a final match restricted to 16 overs per side, to win the T20 Trophy.
