Yorkshire T20 fixtures 2020

I quite like the T20's but the other half says 'it's not cricket' and I know where he comes from - but I think the time of watching Geoff Boycott bat for three days for fifty runs (might be an exaggeration there!) are long gone.

Joe Root is available for the first fixture. Still going to be other England squad players and several injured players missing though.

27/08/20 - T20 competition starts this evening for Yorkshire. Sounds like Olivier will be rested for the final 4-day game. Plenty of chance for some of the young lads to establish themselves in the first team

Sun 30/08/20 2pm scheduled start today for T20 game v Derbys.
Root playing, plus Fisher back from injury. Still quite an inexperienced Yorks bowling attack though, as Olivier is being rested

Live stream on page 2 of White Rose Cricket Forum match thread.

Update 1 : Yorks made 220-5, which is good by our standards. Haven't seen Fraine (44) whacking the ball about like that before! Also clear to see the class of Root (64) with the bat today. Good innings from Lyth (61) too.

Update 2 : Some initial very tight bowling from Lyth, Fisher and Root, backed up by good fielding meant that the game was effectively finished after about 10 overs of the Derbyshire innings. Fisher (3-21) always looked dangerous, and Root chipped in with 2-7 too. Yorkshire took their foot off the pedal a bit later, which allowed Brook and Hill to each get their first T20 wickets. Excellent performance by Yorkshire overall in a 99 run victory as Derbyshire finished on 121-9 (innings closed). Let's hope that Fisher stays fit now as he is capable of doing some damage to our opponents!
Playing Notts at Trent Bridge tomorrow.

Notts v Yorks T20 scheduled to start at 2pm. There is a link to live stream on White Rose Cricket Forum match thread,. Unchanged team for Yorks

Update 1 : Yorks 190 all out. Half centuries for Lyth and Root again, but Yorks crumbled a bit at the end, after looking like getting over 200 at one stage. Some spectacular catches on the boundary by Notts . Not a bad Yorkshire score though.

Update 2: Notts (194-4) won by 6 wkts. Early wickets for Yorkshire with some decent bowling from Lyth, Fisher, Root and Thompson but our back up bowlers could not get any wickets and gave away a lot of runs. We got away with it yesterday as Derbyshire were already 5 wickets down when they came on, but not today. Even so Notts only reached their target with a few balls to spare .

Decent game

Root not in the England latest T20 squad, so we may be seeing a bit more of him.

Root and Willey available for Yorks tonight

Update 1 - Yorks 90-1 off 10 overs (live stream keeps cutting out!)

Update 2 - Yorks 198 (innings closed) Kohler-Cadmore 85 n.o.

Update 3 - Given up on the live stream, listening to radio commentary.
Durham got off to a great start with an opening stand of 77, but the Yorkshire bowlers gradually pulled the game back to bowl Durham out for 169 (Clark 68). Best Yorks bowlers : Poysden 3-32 and Willey 3-26. Root got a couple of wickets too.
Yorks won by 29 runs. Fairly comfortable at the end.

Shame re the live stream - do you think it's when there are a lot of people trying to log in and watch at the same time? Just wondering that about any games I want to watch of the Millers.

Good win Yorkshire!

Don't know what the technical problems were, but it would have been Durham CCC's own equipment . BBC Radio match commentary was fine. Next T20 game is Leics away next Friday, so let's hope that they can provide a better broadcast.

I listened to the Rotherham/Salford game on IFollow but I had to have the 'home' commentary on as the away one wasn't working - at one point their commentator said , 'sorry about that Rotherham fans and hope you get it sorted for your next game' so I'm guessing it was problems at this end.

Might be some changes from BWT midweek team for tomorrow night... Ballance back in training, but unlikely to start.... Willey should be available... Poysden is usually regarded as our T20 specialist spinner ahead of Shutt. Olivier and Coad normally don't play in T20 games, but as BWT games have finished for us, who knows? (Only have to bowl 4 each overs at most, though not sure what is in Olivier's contract)

Live stream link on White Rose Cricket forum

Update 1 - Willey captain, no Olivier, but Coad is in, and two spinners are in ( Shutt and Poysden both playing).
Lyth has hit 50 off the first 5 overs!

Update 2- Yorks crumbled away once Lyth (71) was dismissed, execpt for a useful quickifre 44 from Thompson at the end as the Yorks final score was 188-6 (ininnings closed) . A bit disappointing after a great start. Still winnable, but probably need to bowl Leics out now.

Update 3 -Good innings from Akkerman (58) and the young Irishman Delaney (64) - who had looked very useful against England a few weeks ago - appeared to have the game sewn up for the Foxes after some erratic Yorkshire bowling and fielding. Yorkshire made a late comeback though once the pair had been dismissed, but Leics, needing three runs to win, hit a six off the final ball of the twentieth over . Only Willey (2-23) bowled with much consistency for us. Unfortunately the lack of experience of some of the Yorkshire players was exposed a bit tonight., and there were some crucial careless errors when batting, bowling and fielding.

Leics (192-7, 20 overs ) won by 3 wickets.

Entertaining, nailbiting game though!
