Yorkshire cricket Bob Willis trophy 2020

Bob Willis Trophy:
Derbyshire next at Headingley - 15th Aug
Match will be streamed to Yorkshire CCC members (possibly other access too)

Bairstow available, possibly Willey too. Sounds like Coad , Fisher, Waite and Ballance will not be fit in time for the game

15/08/20 Yorks v Derbyshire started on time - Yorkshire are batting. Willey not playing . Due to injuries, another Yorks youngster gets a debut today - 19 years old George Hill. England U-19 player, right-hand bat, right fast-medium bowler, and he replaces Shutt. Good luck, George!

Update 1 : Kohler-Cadmore out for a duck :(
Haven't managed to find a free live stream, but there is BBC radio internet commentary

Update 2 : Yorks 178-4. Brooks out for a duck too, but Malan still there. Rain stopped play

Update 3 : Yorks 243-4 now . Maiden Yorks ton for Malan, another 50 for Tattersall. Both still batting

Update 4 : Yorks 280-4 . Gone off for bad light. A pity, as Malan (145 n.o.) and Tattersall (65 n.o.) were both hammering the Derbyshire bowlers. Close of play for Day One.

Yorks v Derbys Day 2 -start delayed due to rain. No play before lunch.

Update 1- Started at 3pm. Bowled one over, in which Malan hit a couple of fours to pass his 150, then had to go off because of bad light!

Update 2 - Play abandoned for the day. Yorks on 288-4. Yorkshire in a good position, but well over a day's play has already been lost due to rain .

Day 3 - Monday's play has started on time. Live stream from Yorkshire White Rose Cricket forum website page 10 of Yorks v Derbys match thread. Outfield looks damp.

Update 1 : Yorks 400-6 dec after 200 partnership by Tattersall (66) and Malan (219, his highest score) and useful knock by Thompson (36 n.o.)
Derbys 33 -0 at Lunch. Yorks bowlers looking dangerous though. Bairstow wicket-keeping, Tattersall in the field.

Saw a little of this game at my sisters this morning when we popped in.

Malan looks, and sounds, like he will be a good player for Yorkshire.

Malan is definitely looking like a great signing, after today.
Gone off for bad light . Derbys 198-6. Difficult for Yorks to win now, but not impossible. Should get at least a draw, and 5 batting bonus points plus 2 more for bowling are already "in the bag".
Commentators said Coad should be fit for the next game. Youngsters Leech and Hill haven't let the side down though with their bowling today.

Yes, the batting points will help.

I'll be honest a lot of these Yorkshire lads are just names to me and some I've not heard of - yet!

Day 4 - Start delayed due to rain. We needed some good luck with the weather to have a chance of winning the game - doesn't look like we will get it

Update 1 : 12.30 - No play yet today . Taking an early lunch

Update 2 : Tea score Derbys 245-6

Update 3: Close of play score Derbys 300-7dec

Match drawn (You can't beat the weather)

Lancs at Headingley up next... we are likely to be missing more players due to England call-ups, but Coad may be back,. No news on Ballance injury/illness though

Yorks v Lancs Day One
Start delayed due to bad weather
Yorks won the toss and will bat first. Malan, Bairstow, Root, Willey, Rashid are on England squad duty. Also out - Ballance, Fisher, Waite, and Coad.
Fairly inexperienced Yorkshire team today, with Thompson, Loten, Warner and Hill all starting.
Link to Live Stream on Yorkshire White Rose Cricket Forum

Update 1 - Rain stopped play. Yorks 8-0
Update 2 - No further play due to rain. That's all for today folks!

Day 2 - Started on time!

Update 1 - Damp and overcast at Headingley. Playing area looks very green. The ball is swinging around a lot. Yorkshire put on over 50 for the first wicket in difficult batting conditions, but are now 94-4.
Raining now.

Update 2 - Close of play 178-6, not easy to bat with the rain interruptions. Great effort by opener Adam Lyth. He was still there at the end on 86 not out. Other than Lyth, only Tattersall (25) was capable of staying in for very long.

Day 3
Started on time. Yorks now 200-6 and one batting bonus point achieved.
Lyth 100 n.o.

Update 2 : Yorks 260 all out. Lyth 103. Second batting bonus point achieved, with some useful runs from young Hill (29) , and Olivier (20) at the end. Not a bad score , given the playing conditions. Weather looks like it is clearing up now though!

Update 3: Not much joy for the Yorks bowlers initially, but we now have a bowling bonus point. Youngster George Hill has just taken a wicket.

Update 4 : Close of play score : Lancs 195-5

Root not available for next Bob Willis Trophy game due England call-ip for 50-overs international games against Australia.

Hey ho. Good that they are being picked for their international team but I think it leaves the club team a bit short of experience.

10.30 start today v Leics, as we are now into September. Coad and Olivier are back in the squad, but not Willey

Update 1 - Started on time. Yorks have included four fast bowlers in the team plus spinner Shutt.
Young batsman Loten gets his chance due to England call-ups too.
Leics are batting first. Now 7-1

Live stream link on White Rose Cricket forum website match thread

Update 2 - Leics 21-3. Good start for Yorks and a bowling bonus point in the bag already

Update 3 - Leics 52-4. Early lunch due to rain, but commentators are saying that it only looks like a shower

Update 4 - The damp conditions were suited to the fast bowlers, and Yorkshire made the most of it , bowling Leics out for 124. Coad, back from injury, picked up 5-18 and Fisher 3-29. Great performace by Yorks in the match so far, but looks like difficult batting conditions

Match has just been interrupted by drizzle. Yorks 36-2 now. Looks like a misty autumnal day now in Headingley.

No further play possible on Day One due to rain
