Yorkshire cricket 2026

I haven't posted anything previously, because we got off to a bad County Championship start yet again. We beat Surrey by an innings today though, after nearly a decade of trying to get a win. Went to several of those games, which were mainly heavy defeats for Yorkshire.

What was different in this game? Yorkshire had Root and Brook avaiiable, Surrey were missing Sam Curran (injured) and couple more players for various reasons. All the Yorkshire bowlers played well, and didn't get injured, for once.

We won't have Root and Brook for the next batch of CC games, so the other players have got to step up now and show some consistency. Good performances in this game though.

I see Lancs are charging for watching the stream. All the teams will probably do the same eventually.

I was surprised when I saw both Root and Brook playing - can't remember the last time they graced Yorkshire with their presence as a pair.

Might be the last that we see of them for a while though. They make a big difference to our chances of winning any game!

I watched cricket earlier, Notts v Derbyshire. Random but I really enjoyed it.

First set of Yorkshire's T20 fixtures have been completed .
P6 W4 L2 - top of the North group, although we have lost two of the last three games (Threw away a good start v Leics yesterday). Our short-term "guest" players have generally done well too, for a change. Some of our young players are still finding it a big step-up from the 2nd XI, when we don't have our Test match and England Lions players available. Generally good so far though. Let's hope that we don't fizzle out.

Yorkshire beat Notts today to qualify for the T20 Quarter-Finals. Playing Somerset at Headingley next. (Wed.15th July, 1630 start).

Yorkshire lost to Somerset in the T20, and were knocked out of the competition. Threw the game away from a strong position.

One-Day Cup (50 overs)

Yorkshire won easily v Sussex at Hove today in the group stage .
Record so far P2 W2, L1.
(That one defeat was a game thrown away in the last couple of overs!)
Three tough group stage fixtures coming up now...

Yorkshire beat Essex at Chelmsford yesterday (fairly easily) and qualified for the knock-out stages of the One-Day Cup.
