I expected:

PL - 2nd
CL - Quarter Finals
Once we dropped to the EL I expected the semi finals at least
And a trophy from either of the Cups.

Thought we could get 1st or 2nd
CL- QF's
EL - I thought we would win it, the teams left we were better than, but the competition is obviously beneath this club.

Didnt expect much from the League Cup but semis or final of FA cup was about right.

Europe was my only disappointment and not looking forward to Wembley as the 'home'.

At the start of the season I was hoping for CL place and a trophy.

One part done but I'm a trophy type of guy and finishing 2nd,3rd, 4th means jack shit in the trophy room.

What about next season. ? I don't think we will get second. We may even struggle top 4.

I thought the same for this season although hoped for maybe 4 th.

I'm not usually pessimistic . It's the Wembley thing and resurgence of utd and city I am expecting.

A trophy. I don't care what it is, league cup will do. It's been too long. Hopefully champions league football in our first season at the new ground as well but a trophy is more important than top 4 IMO.

Depends who is sold and who comes in as replacements ....
I want the league trophy and if it is at Wembley that we finally do it I would be elated beyond belief ...no matter how unlikely that sounds.

City is the only team that can catch us now.

It is now possible for ars*nal to get into the CL if United win the EL.

5 places are only given if the Europa winners finish outside the top 4 , the scum need to finish top4 whatever manure do.

really? I thought that if United won the EL and finished 4th then the 5th place team would get in to the CL.

CL next season is going to be tough - all of our immediate peers are going to spend big (much bigger than us) this summer and one or two teams lower down are going to do the same...

Will they buy well, how quickly will they integrate are interesting puzzles; I can easily see this summer window spend being an all time record, Manure, ManCity, Le arse, the bin dippers, Everton, Palace even the chav's are all said to have record transfer budgets...

We're going to be competing in a marketplace that could well be the most difficult we've ever encountered and I can see that once again we'll be forced to play in the Tier 3 player pool and hope they come good...

Don't be suprised if utd struggle again next season. Look at how much jose has to get rid off.

Rooney, martial, fellani to name a couple and add in carrick and mata as possibilities. He may not renew zlatans deal.

He will get rid of some of those defenders as well. Man utd and ars*nal will be in a rebuilding phase.

You've just made me laugh, on Friday I was watching the game as a guest of a well know agent - and he almost said the same as you just did and suggested that if they can't dump a few to China, manure would be running what he called a 'bargain basement' sale! :19:

I expected:

League: 4th
CL: Group Stages
EL: Semi-Finals
LC: Out early
FA: Semi-FInals

I just thought the big money teams were going to impose themselves again now they had the likes of Pep and Mourinho in charge. I was expecting ars*nal to grab a lucky 3rd (above us) and I was expecting Chelsea to transition under Conte. I was expecting us to battle Liverpool for 4th. I certainly didn't expect this season to be so good for us in the league.

I hate trying to predict next season when the summer can see so much change. I think we'll see Man City have an excellent summer of recruitment, including Walker. I think Man Utd will buy big and sell big which typically tends to equate to an up and down season but it depends who they get. Chelsea I think could have a shit of a summer if they lose Costa and Hazard, which is looking very likely but they will spend big I'm sure. I think Klopp will buy wise and well but losing Coutinho will be a big blow. ars*nal... well... it depends on Wenger but either way, they will spend a large amount this summer on a striker and midfield general.

With Spurs, I think it will be a summer much like last but I do have a sinking feeling that we are going to lose a couple of important players. If we are to succeed next season the coaching will need to be improved even more. Poch definitely reviewed our mistakes last summer and he definitely made improvements so hopefully he does that again and we improve our transfer activity.

We are at a crossroads. If we don't spend and get a striker of quality or 2 and maybe a winger too we could go backwards . Playing at Wembley I see as a negative and we have to overcome that.

We have such a good spine plus Winks and Lamela to come back. Rose will also improve us. Edwards could break through too. We just need that extra push to compete for the title again.

I pretty sure we are going to need a new CB as well; by all accounts Wimmer wants assurances we are unlikely to give and in mind CCV just doesn't look good enough to me - suspect he'd come on leaps and bounds if he gets a season long top class loan ...

So there are unquestionably some tough decisions to make, let's hope we get more right than we do wrong...

LOL I was watching the game thinking half these players are so poor and should not play for a club like utd.

Nope, 5th won't be getting a CL spot no matter what happens.

My housemate (Utd fan) said the same thing. But tbf, Utd have always had their "punching above their station" players. Difference is they don't have Fergie to push that extra bit out of them. Wes Brown for example, was every bit as shit at Phil Jones, yet somehow managed to churn out consistent performances got Utd when relied upon
