Xmas Love it or Hate it?

Have you allowed JF more than 1 vote Freeman?. LOL. I like Christmas. It would be pretty boring end to the year without it. Granted there is alot I don't like about it regarding the commercialism that the majority of us get suckered into. Christmas is alright, by me

LOL, no even Dearleader gets only 1 unfortunately.

I find it weird that it's gone from a religious holiday to a bastardisation as you say commercial materialistic holiday.

I think it's great for kids, but the idea that everyone basically HAS to spend their money on all their loved ones at the same time, not naturally or voluntarily, but really by peer pressure, having to figure out what to get people and manage the budget, the streets and roads filling with people, in one big crush, like sheep, all following their orders, some happily, some resentfully, but all fucking there clogging up the streets for a month, every shop pumping out the awful music, grabby kids being all spoilt and wanty, the season of good will, where most adults aren't really feeling so full of happiness, more like stress, and why can't people have good will all year, why does that just get 1 month designated for it, like yeah be a bastard the rest of the year, as long as you pretend to be nice at xmas. Trading your money for someone else's money, in the form of products from shops that you don't need and probably wouldn't have bought for yourself if you had the choice, that money would be spent on more important less whimsical things like food and bills and things you actually need.

Can you guess what I voted? Lol.

I just hate being treated like a sheep, and I hate fakeness, and those are the 2 things it most represents to me. It just seems like such a paradox, the happy season that I loathe so much because it's so fake and stressful and you can't fucking avoid it no matter how much you hate it.

Bah Bah Humbug
Have you any joy
No sir, no sir
Christmas just annoys
None for the carol singers
They are just a pain
And all the Christmas adverts
Could easily drive me insane

Really dislike it, and this year is shaping up to be the shitfest it usually is. Don't believe the hype.

I used to love it when the kids were younger , but now I'm a bit meh. Enjoy the family stuff .

I have alway thought boxing day is a far better day , mainly due to all the sport , but there is something far more relaxing and festive about that day to me.

I put I like it JF, not I love it. I wouldn't say it is the best day of the year, hence. Do I love it, without the best day of the year, bit. No I don't. It's alot of work and it's damn exhausting even more so when you a clapped out body, like me, though online shopping as made that easier.

Just had my first online shopping Christmas delivery. Ah it is divine. No more ludicrous queues in Morrisons to manouvre, now they online, is amazing.

As for (referring to Freeman on it being a Christian festival originally) I have found for me Christmas has more meaning now I am a practising Christian. Not because I believe in it all literally. Because it takes me into experiences I wouldn't have if I wasn't a practising Christian.

It's a mixture for me; I like the time off work, love the time with family and the atmosphere we create with our family traditions, giving gifts can be very rewarding and recieving gifts is nice too but I really dislike shopping at this time of year (too many people, too many queues) for both food and gifts, the financial pressure can become too much if you don't have control, espcially the small things, they really build up, and the time spent in the kitchen on food prep and clean up can be a drag if things are not well organised.

All in all, I'd not mind too much if Christmas was cancelled but as it is I do enjoy it.

IT'S CHRIIISSSSSSSTMAAAASSSSSS

Mistletoe and wine Clive?.
:14:

For good measure, here you go, get singing

The child is a King, the Caroller sing,
The old is past, there's a new beginning.
Dreams of Santa, dreams of snow,
Fingers numb, faces aglow.

Christmas time, Mistletoe and Wine
Children singing Christian rhyme
With logs on the fire and gifts on the tree
A time to rejoice in the good that we see

A time for living, a time for believing
A time for trusting, not deceiving,
Love and laughter and joy ever after
hours for the taking, just follow the master.

Christmas time, Mistletoe and Wine
Children singing Christian rhyme
With logs on the fire and gifts in the tree
A time to rejoice in the good that we see

Silent night, holy night

Its a time for giving, a time for getting,
A time for forgiving and for forgetting.
Christmas is love, Christmas is peace,
A time for hating and fighting to cease.

Christmas time, Mistletoe and Wine
Children singing Christian rhyme
With logs on the fire and gifts on the tree
A time to rejoice
With logs on the fire and gifts on the tree
A time to rejoice in the good that we see.

Never been a fan , Hate all the waste of food and money but I'm a miserable bestaard anyway !

Cant say that I hate it, its just that it comes around to often. Every year is to much. Maybe every 5 years would be better or even 10. If it was 10 I might not be here for the next one. Ah well at least this one will be all over by this time next week. Bah Humbug.
