Xavi Simons - player thread

This bloke has the right attitude
Again, I'm gutted that after beginning to settle we won't see what he can really do until very late in the new season. I really think he can become a top PL player - not withstanding the injuries and the fact that he was heading towards being the most fouled player in the PL..this man has the right attitude and the skills to match.

With these injuries and being unsure of return dates and the effects on the players who are coming back from them. Making decisions on where to spend can be tricky.
Is Kulu coming back? If so, when?
Will Xavi be back for Jan? If so, can we get by with just Madders? Or do we splurge on a MGW who can play 8 or 10 for £70m+
Or is Mickey Moore ready to be cover for Madders (Moore is a 10 not a winger)
If we pay £50m for Savinho what's left in budget for a top class striker?
If we are not willing to pay £25m for Palhinha, does that mean that we are willing to pay £70-80m to get a better fit?
When is Odobert due back?
Will Kudus be fit for the start of the season?
I am really positive and relaxed with how the back line is shaping up, however we still need to resolve the GK issue.
Unless we have a budget of £300m (including around £120m from sales), we have a massive problem IMO.

He's the right kind of heart we need in our team. If he can make it thru the physical gauntlet, and I think he can, he could be a legend.

The kid is All In.

.
It was a real blow that he got the injury when he did, match by match he was doing more and having more of an impact - then wam! He's out. Just as he looked like he was getting to grips with the physicality of the PL.

All we can do is hope he comes back and kicks on again.

These ACL injuries are an absolute disaster.

For us oldies back in the day before all the clever scans etc, of the current present definition ACL injury...we better knew these as
  • Torn cartilage or cartilage damage (often actually meant a torn meniscus or internal joint trauma accompanying the unseen ligament tear)
  • Bad knee or bum knee
  • Severe knee sprain or twisted knee
  • Internal derangement of the knee
Although in all my years of playing football I never ever heard the expression BUM Knee or in fact a derangement of the knee......however many of my teammates in East London were bummers and absolutely deranged! :grinning:
