Wycombe Wanderers (h): What 3 Things Did We Learn?

Never allow Ainsworth through the door as Manager. Still too steaming to write more than that !

1. Scott Wharton must be an automatic choice to the end of the season. We have lost only one of the ten games he has played; five of those have been clean sheets; we have conceded only eight goals in those ten games, and three of those came in one game. He is left-sided but can kick with both feet; he is good in the air; his positional sense is excellent; he is calm and collected on the ball; and his passing ability and confidence belie his age. We should offer some serious money to prise him away from his three-year contract at Blackburn; besides anything else, he will be worth a fortune in two or three years.

2. With our defence, we should be a lot higher than sixth. Wycombe have scored 85 goals this season but never really looked like scoring. However, we have conceded just one goal in our last four games, but only won two. We have kept four clean sheets in our last six games but only won three. Wycombe have conceded 69 goals this season and we failed to score. It is obvious what is required in the summer - signing the right striker will make us almost unbeatable.

3. Received wisdom is a wondrous thing. Even fans of clubs who are dirty and cynical have the nerve to call Lincoln dirty and cynical, especially if they have never seen us play. Wycombe's cynicism rose to new levels on and off the pitch, and even extended to requesting their 10% despite knowing their following would be low (393).

This.Nail on head.

Would you like some feedback, @Scotimp?

"Yeah but you see the thing is, Lincoln City are dirty and cynical."

"I learnt that Lincoln are hypocritical moaning pricks"

"Re point 3: I don't know how far in advance clubs have to request their allocation, but a few weeks ago there was an outside chance we could have secured promotion v Lincoln. Requesting the 10% at that time would have been optimistic rather than cynical."
