Would you change anything regarding the VS forums?

How could we improve the current crop of Vital Spurs forums? If it’s technical I’ll probably have to seek Vital HQ advice, albeit and having said that I do have the ability to do certain stuff.

I’ll try and answer every question.

Over to you!

I refuse to read any front page article due to the automatically playing videos, they are a pain.

The video is on mute, for me anyway and so I just ignore it.

Is it possible to have a notification if you are quoted - I miss these all the time - and my Zinger comebacks are wasted two weeks later :(

The only notification you can get (email) is within your My Account settings when you receive PMs. Sadly I can't engineer your last request. Sorry.

I agree. I've not read a 'Zinger' comeback from him in 5 years.

Can you make a Vital Spurs podcast? Talk about stuff that's discussed in the forums. Maybe post a thread for each episode and give a link to it, then people can comment or answer questions. Not sure if vitalfootball would allow it though..

Vitalfootball would most certainly allow us to make and broadcast podcasts Bienvenu17. The question would be trying to get hold of equipment, who would be interested in compiling a podcast and who would listen?

Competition is quite high regarding Spurs related podcats. Then again YouTube is also busy with similar Spurs fan material.

If anyone is interested and would like to discuss a possible VS podcast please feel free to PM me.

Its very simple to do a podcast nowadays. Anybody could record a podcast with one decent mic sat on a table linked to a computer/tablet. Then you just upload it to a desired location. You would need somebody with a decent radio voice and the ability to have guests. Otherwise it would be a bit dull. I'd almost say youtube video-casts would be more suited but would require a lot more know-how and effort.

Dare I say it, it would be nice to have a not-embarrassing Spurs version of GoonFan TV. That format works well.

I'm contemplating making this forum a Vital Network registered members' only board, similar to to the other VS forums. My idea is to keep the lurkers away.

Thoughts?

If I was coming here to the first time and saw I needed to sign up before seeing anything I would have been gone.

Also, still disagree with this split sections for transfers, it just leads to fragmented conversations or heavily repeating conversations, such as 4 threads talking about the Walker transfer.

Agree Meee.......we all probably viewed posts on here for a while before taking the plunge to join in.....I just don't get this thing about making forums VS members only before they can be viewed. What's the problem with people just looking at what's being posted.?

Based on the above comments I've decided to make the forums viewable to non-members.

Originally this was only meant to be a trial.

Many thanks for your feedback. :35:

Tino, not sure if I mentioned it before, but is there a way to get rid of the need to use html code on the front page articles/posts?... e.g., for newbies creating basic paragraphs can be a pain unless you know the html code. I remember practising para, bold, italics etc often caused the threads to go hay wire!

Here, in the forum, I am able to post as if in basic word processing mode...why?

I fully understand what you're saying but the problem lies in the way the site was originally built / designed Critical. A pain a know but there is nothing I can do. :16:

Have a look at the ' Poch is Calm about Transfers ' thread.

I'd change that.

One of the forum mods have rectified the issue :35:
