I still think, like the Olympics, the World Cup should either be in the same spot every time around or bounce around through a few places. Greece was almost bankrupt by the Olympics, Montreal just finished paying off the 1976 Olympics (yes, you read that right), and now Brazil is financially crippled due to the World Cup. Why not just rotate it between countries that can afford to host it, like the US, England, Germany, France, Spain, Italy, etc, countries that have the stadia and infrastructure in place already and host massive games on a weekly basis.

Don't be silly, where would Blatter and his cronies get all their bribes from if it wasn't shifted around to the likes of Russia and Qatar?

I'm not sure Brazil is financially crippled due to the World Cup, I'd say it's more likely that they're financially crippled by corruption and the uneven distribution of wealth.
